News by Wesley Yin-Poole Deputy Editorial Director Updated on 21 Dec 2019 31 comments Intrepid modder Lance McDonald is back at it again, this time escaping from P.T.'s endless hallway to step out into Kojima Productions' rendition of the streets of Silent Hill. McDonald, who most recently uncovered the horrifying realisation P.T.'s terrifying antagonist, Lisa, is, quite literally, attached to you as you roam the demo's looping hallway, and confirmed the first-person protagonist in the P.T. / Silent Hills teaser is Norman Reedus, has published a new video that shows what could be the final official video game version of the town of Silent Hill. To step out into Silent Hill, McDonald connected P.T.'s starting room to the map file used in the demo's ending cinematic, which is rendered in real-time on PlayStation 4. There's no collision in this environment, so the player immediately falls through the ground. Terrifyingly, this causes Lisa to appear and reset the game, which suggests the developers at the then Konami-owned Kojima Productions accounted for players going out of bounds and created an event to deal with it. She does the jumpscare any time you mess with the player location without applying a special fix to make the game think you're still on the ground, it's hard to predict and I screamed multiple times while getting a few of the overhead camera shots for the video- Lance McDonald (@manfightdragon) December 20, 2019 To see this content please enable targeting cookies. There's an impressive amount of detail to P.T.'s Silent Hill, with the blood trail seen in the cinematic leading to a puddle, loads of environmental clutter, huge apartment blocks, parking lots and silhouettes of water towers on the rooftops. As you'd expect, there's not a lot going on in the area, which ends down the main road after you walk under a bridge, but the impending sense of doom and foreboding is unmistakable. McDonald's video gives us a tantalising glimpse into what might have been, had Kojima's Silent Hills project not bit the dust.
