Cyberpunk 2077 on track for September release, CD Projekt says And has already been rated by most boards. News by Emma Kent Contributor Updated on 9 Apr 2020 35 comments Despite the ongoing disruption caused by the coronavirus outbreak, it seems Cyberpunk 2077 remains on course for its release date of 17th September. That's according to the latest financial statement from CD Projekt, which addressed the challenges presented by remote work. "Our plans haven't changed - we're steaming towards the September release of Cyberpunk," said CD Projekt exec Adam Kiciński. "There is no shortage of motivation and we also possess all the tools needed to facilitate remote work. We've been operating in this mode for over three weeks and to-date results confirm that we can carry on with all our operations without major disruptions." The statement adds that the CD Projekt group is well-prepared to continue to work through tough times, thanks to the group's "strategy of avoiding debt and accumulating cash reserves". The fourth quarter of 2019 was the group's best final period of the year in its history, thanks in part to increased Witcher 3 sales following the success of the Netflix show. Following the release of the financial statement, CD Projekt Red studio head Adam Badowski tweeted to say Cyberpunk 2077 had already been rated by "the vast majority of rating boards around the world", meaning the game is likely in the final stages of development. The Last of Us Part 2 and Iron Man VR are some of the first major games to have seen delays thanks to the coronavirus outbreak, but it's likely we'll see more as developers are forced to work from home. For developers releasing games in the upcoming months, there's also an added dilemma about whether to delay for the sake of saving physical sales. Watch on YouTube Still, it's reassuring to hear everything's on track for Cyberpunk 2077... for now, at least. Until it releases in September, we can entertain ourselves with lore snippets about Cyberpunk 2077's gangs, or possibly modding Cyberpunk into other games.
