News by Matt Wales Reporter Updated on 22 Apr 2020 15 comments Telling Lies, the acclaimed FMV-driven investigative thriller from Her Story developer Sam Barlow, will be heading to Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One next week, on 28th April. Released on PC and iOS devices last August, Telling Lies follows the same basic structure as its critically lauded predecessor, once again providing players with a non-linear heap of video clips to sift through in order to uncover the truth of things. However, instead of scouring a police database of interrogation footage to hunt down a missing man, as was the case in Her Story, Telling Lies sees players conjuring up increasingly creative search terms in order to pick through two year's worth of secretly filmed webcam footage, squirrelled away on a stolen NSA laptop. Watch on YouTube This time, the goal is to piece together the stories of four main characters, linked by a "shocking incident", played by Prometheus' Logan Marshall-Green, X-Men: Apocalypse's Alexandra Shipp, Westworld's Angela Sarafyan, and Halt and Catch Fire's Kerry Bishé. Oli Welsh had generally nice things to say about Telling Lies when he gave it the review treatment last year, calling it a "flawed but fascinating experiment in storytelling", and a "second baby step into uncharted territory: a little wobbly, a little naive. But definitely courageous and exciting", before slapping a Eurogamer Recommended badge upon it. Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Switch players can draw their own conclusions when Telling Lies launches digitally next week.
