Destiny 2 players are glitching into the future of the Tower Perfect paradox. News by Wesley Yin-Poole Deputy Editorial Director Updated on 2 May 2020 6 comments Destiny 2 players have encountered a glitch that has offered a glimpse into the future of the Tower. Bungie's shooter is currently in the middle of its 10th season, dubbed Season of the Worthy, and a storyline that involves The Almighty plummeting towards The Last City. The Almighty is a massive Cabal superweapon that was left broken and orbiting the Sun at the end of the Destiny 2 campaign. Now, after a desperate Psion Flayer set The Almighty on a collision course with Earth, players are trying to use the warmind Rasputin to destroy it. Watch on YouTube THERE MAY BE SPOILERS AHEAD. While it's expected The Almighty does not in fact destroy Earth or the Tower when the Season of the Worthy ends at the weekly reset on 9th June 2020, players have found evidence Destiny's famous social space does get properly smashed up. This glitch was first reported by redditor PaperMartin, who revealed images showing areas of the Tower in ruins. This was then backed up by other players who encountered the same glitch. Here are some before and after screenshots: So, what's going on here? The Destiny community suspects The Almighty will be destroyed in dramatic fashion - that is, at the last second - and its debris then smashes into the Tower, causing the future damage some players are seeing today. The next obvious question is, what next for the Destiny story after The Almighty is dealt with? Fans await a Pyramid ship tease - what would indicate the arrival of Destiny's pantomime villain The Darkness - with bated breath. With Destiny 2 season 11 set for June and, presumably, an expansion set for later in 2020, fingers are crossed the Darkness gets a move on.
