All the highlights from Gamescom's Opening Night Live Ratchet! Dragon Age! Star Wars! Cold War! News by Tom Phillips Deputy Editor Updated on 28 Aug 2020 126 comments We didn't get a Gamescom this year, but we did get a Gamescom Opening Night Live - another chance to stare again into the crystal ball of gaming's future, presented as ever by host Geoff Keighley. Opening Night Live began with Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War, and a chat about the various things we found out about yesterday - branching narrative within missions, character creation, that kind of thing. We also saw a cut-scene from early in the game where the team are briefed on the Perseus threat and meet president Reagan. Next was a debut trailer for a game named Unknown9: Awakening, from Reflector Studios, starring a young Indian girl with supernatural powers. It looked promising, if mysterious. We found out Bridge Constructor: The Walking Dead was a thing, coming later this year. Then we saw Doom Eternal's The Ancient Gods Part 1 DLC, which arrives on 20th October: Watch on YouTube Excitingly, BioWare revealed our best look yet at Dragon Age 4, including some of its locations and characters. (And was that Inquisition's Dorian back?) World of Warcraft: Shadowlands showed an extended animated trailer, and revealed its 27th October release date. We got a proper look at Little Nightmares 2 gameplay, with headless things, walking hands, dolls which need smashing and more unsettling things. We also got a 11th February 2021 release date. Destiny 2 showed off its icy new superpowers coming in this November's next Darkness-infused expansion: Star Wars Squadrons continued to look very pretty, with a brilliantly stylish mission introduction and a nice cameo from Wedge Antilles: We then got a reveal of Journey to Batuu, a Star Wars pack for The Sims which - I mean goodness, EA really wants to fit the Star Wars license in everything. Anapurna Interactive's previously-announced 12 Minutes was revealed to have a starry cast, including Daisy Ridley, James McAvoy and Willem Dafoe. Mafia: Definitive Edition featured a few more glimpses of its from-the-ground-up remade gameplay, intercut with clips of its main character being inducted into the game's crime family: Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga was shown next. Coming spring 2021, it's still a little ways from release - it feels like we first heard about this a long, long time ago. Here's a look at its latest trailer, which features Lego Yaddle: Watch on YouTube Fall Guys, the feelgood gaming hit of this summer, pulled back the curtain on its second season. Featuring medieval outfits and a fortress level, it all looked a bit Takeshi's Castle. From Respawn, we got a look at the VR-focused return for Medal of Honor, Above and Beyond: And the show closed with an extended look at Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, which showed the game running on PlayStation 5 in all its eye-popping detail and portal-hopping gameplay. It's due within the PlayStation launch window, developer Insomniac Games said, swerving any explicit confirmation it would arrive in 2020.
