Medal of Honor VR isn't going down well on Steam That's a negative, soldier. News by Wesley Yin-Poole Deputy Editorial Director Updated on 12 Dec 2020 23 comments Medal of Honor VR surprise-launched a day early - and it's been met with negative reviews on Steam. The £54.99 Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond, developed by Apex Legends and Titanfall studio Respawn and seen by many as the most high-profile VR game since Half-Life: Alyx, currently has a "mostly negative" user review label on Steam after 330 reviews. There are a raft of issues players have with the game, including performance problems, frustrating object selection and reloading, and long loading times for those playing on an HDD instead of an SSD. Watch on YouTube Others have pointed to the game's lack of teleportation for movement. Comfort settings are available, and there is a four ways to turn system for movement, but smooth turning is currently not in the game (many who play seated use smooth turning in other VR games and find snap turning immersion-breaking). Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond has also been criticised for a lack of in-depth graphical settings. You can adjust the render resolution but that's about it. In short, it's not a great start for Medal of Honor VR, which hit the headlines ahead of launch for its surprisingly demanding recommended specs. Here's how it weighs in: Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system OS: Windows 10 Processor: Intel i7 9700K equivalent or greater Memory: 16GB RAM Graphics: Nvidia RTX 2080 equivalent or greater Storage: 180GB available space The minimum specs are the same (the minimum specs were only added to the game's Steam page recently). And it's worth noting Medal of Honor actually requires 340GB of space to unpack and install before it settles on a 180GB storage footprint. On reddit Oculus has suggested playing the game with an SSD instead of an HDD to improve loading times, but this recommendation is not in the system requirements on Steam. In a post on the Oculus subreddit, Oculus Studios executive producer Mike "Mdoran" Doran told players a patch is already in the works for the game based on this early feedback. This patch, due out soon, adds smooth turning, removes the mission victory screen in-between levels, but keeps it at the end of missions, unlocks the gallery content from the start of the game, and makes bug fixes and quality of life improvements. Doran also confirmed the developers are working on adding more visual scaling options. "We are committed to listening to the community and trying to fix/adjust as many things as we are able to," Doran said. "Thank you for your continued support."
