Give Eivor a fancy new hairdo with this Assassin's Creed Valhalla mod Golden unlocks. News by Emma Kent Contributor Updated on 26 Nov 2020 4 comments The world of Assassin's Creed Valhalla is filled with varied and extravagant hairstyles - unless you're Eivor, in which case most of these are off limits. Valhalla gives you a fairly small selection of Viking-approved haircuts which you can unlock and purchase by expanding your settlement, and even if you want to try out some Anglo-Saxon styles 'dos inspired by your time in England, you're normally stuck with your Nordic hairstyles. Until now, that is, as the inevitable customisation mod has arrived. Made by hypermorphic, who previously created a similar mod for Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Eivor Customiser is a PC mod that gives you access to a wide range of NPC haircuts from Valhalla. There are even a couple of haircuts from Odyssey in there, should you wish to run around as a Viking version of Kassandra. You can also mess around with a range of hair colours and hairstyle variations. And yes, an immersion-shattering pink is available should you want it. Stranger things do happen in Valhalla. On top of this, there are also options to change Eivor's body proportions, so if your Viking wasn't hench enough for your tastes, you can bulk them up using this method. Or give them a long neck, whatever you choose. It's not a look I'd personally go with, but it can be done. To install this mod you'll need to download Forger patch manager, which will automatically create its own folder in your Valhalla game directory (just make sure to set the game location as ACValhalla.exe rather than ACValhalla_plus.exe in Forger). You'll then need to move the .forger2 files from the Eivor Customiser mod into the ForgerPatches folder in the Valhalla game directory. At this point, you can open Forger and select which alterations you'd like to make. As hypermorphic mentions in the Eivor Customiser mod notes, these hairstyles were never intended to be worn on Eivor, so the longer haircuts may well clip into your clothes. To avoid this you can make some clothing items invisible in-game, as I did for the Kassandra haircut. The NPC haircuts are also not of the same quality as the ones designed explicitly for Eivor, so you may encounter slightly floaty physics and weird scalps. I found the mod only replaced the colour of Eivor's classic blonde haircut, so I'd recommend heading to Ravensthorpe's tattoo shop if you want to mess around with your looks. The process of changing hairstyles can be a little time-consuming, too, as you'll have to exit the game to use Forger each time you want to try a new hairstyle. For this reason, it's worth consulting the preview images on the mod page before you try them. The mod already seems to be going down well with players, and hypermorphic has said they will look at introducing beard options next. A couple of players have requested tattoos or weapons be added next - although Ubisoft might not be entirely happy about that, given it's currently selling these customisation options in its store. You do have to go out of your way to install this mod and get it all working, however, so hopefully Ubi will turn a blind eye. Meanwhile, Ubisoft also rolled out a patch today bringing further performance options for Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5, along with some welcome quality of life changes.
