The Sims 4's knitting-themed DLC out later this month, gets new trailer Woolwear! Rocking chairs! Plopsy! News by Matt Wales Reporter Updated on 14 Jul 2020 5 comments The Sims 4 is about to get a little woolier, courtesy of its latest paid DLC expansion, the Nifty Knitting Stuff Pack, which comes to PC, Mac, Xbox One, and PS4 on 28th July. The Nifty Knitting Stuff Pack is the second Stuff Pack to be built around a theme selected by the Sims 4 community (the first, the Laundry Day Stuff Pack, arrived in 2018), and, as you'd imagine, is focussed on fine art of turning a unassuming ball of yarn into a dizzying assortment of goods. According to EA, Sims eager to embark on a life of knitting will first need to purchase a yarn basket; once suitably equipped, they'll then have to start modestly, fashioning the likes of socks and beanies, but will eventually be able to focus on increasingly elaborate projects - sweaters, baby onesies, toys, and even mailbox cosies - as their skills improve. Particularly proficient Sims can pass on their knitting know-how to others, including children. Completed knitting projects can either be donated to charity or passed on as gifts (a useful way of getting rid of those horrifyingly misshapen starter creations), and can even be sold for increased cash via The Sims 4's new Etsy-like website Plopsy - which also serves as a craft-based catalogue for those just looking to buy rather than sell. Elsewhere, Nifty Knitting introduces rocking chairs which give a knitting skill boost, and can also be used to soothe Sims out of a particularly sad or foul mood. Additionally, Elder Sims that plop their bottoms in a rocking chair can make use of the new Reminiscence interaction, presumably enabling them to fondly recall that time rocking chairs were a thing back in The Sims 3. Rounding things off are two new radio stations - the tranquil Focus gives Sims a focus boost while the more raucous Metal channel helps get them energised - as well as a selection of new hairstyles for those hankering for more follicle diversity. Still no sign of body hair, alas. EA hasn't confirmed pricing for The Nifty Knitting Stuff Pack, but, needles to say, it'll almost certainly cost the same as other Sims 4 Stuff Packs, putting it at around £9.99.
