God of War on PS5 runs at up to 60fps - and progress carries over from PS4 Oh, boy. News by Wesley Yin-Poole Deputy Editorial Director Updated on 27 Oct 2020 59 comments God of War runs at up to 60 frames per second on PlayStation 5, developer Sony Santa Monica has confirmed. You get this by selecting the "Favor Performance" video option. In its tweet announcing the mode, Sony Santa Monica didn't mention any additional performance or graphical effects. You will also be able to transfer your God of War III Remastered saves to the #PS5!- Santa Monica Studio – God of War Ragnarök (@SonySantaMonica) October 26, 2020 To see this content please enable targeting cookies. Manage cookie settings God of War on base PS4 runs at 1080p30, whereas on PS4 Pro two options are available: checkerboard 4K mode, which does a good job of holding steady at 30fps in most scenes, and a performance-orientated mode running at full HD resolution with an unlocked frame-rate. According to Digital Foundry's God of War analysis, "a stable 60 frames per second is off the table here and the frame-rate is left to run wild instead with noticeable judder. What this mode basically delivers is something more in line with, say, God of War 3 or Ascension on PlayStation 3. The frame-rate averages in the mid to upper 40s most of the time during any skirmish while some of the quieter moments can jump up to or around 60fps." Hopefully God of War on PS5 will offer a more stable 60fps experience. Meanwhile, God of War saves will transfer from the PlayStation 4 version to the PS5 version, which means you can start where you left off. You can also transfer your God of War 3 Remastered saves to the PS5. God of War 3 Remastered came out on PS4 in 2015. Playing either game on PS5 will hopefully keep God of War fans going until God of War Ragnarok comes out in 2021. Will God of War also come out on PC in the meantime?
