Super Nintendo World website launches virtual flythrough Pipe dreams. News by Tom Phillips Deputy Editor Updated on 6 Jan 2021 21 comments Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan will finally get its grand opening on 4th February, many months later than planned, and it's safe to say I won't be there. Maybe someday? Until then, I'll just be zooming round the Super Nintendo World website, which offers something of a virtual tour of the site, and our first official look at the attraction in motion. Scroll down through the website to fly around the site, the entrance to its Bowser's Castle ride, a look at its Yoshi's Adventure train, its Kinopio's Cafe (Toad's Cafe) restaurant, 1UP Factory gift shop and more. The website section "Let's enjoy the area with the whole body" details how you'll use your NFC wristband to collect keys and coins as you visit Super Nintendo World, via defeating enemies using a smartphone app and unlocking a final boss battle with Bowser Jr. Both of the area's rides - Mario Kart Koopa's Challenge and Yoshi's Adventure - are described as lasting approximately five minutes, and some height restrictions will apply. Gift shop goodies include Mario hats and gloves, Yoshi and Mario plush toys, Mario moustache glasses, T-shirts and more. Kinopio Cafe food includes the Mario Burger (a bacon and cheese burger), the Super Mushroom Pizza Bowl, Pac-n-Flower (Piranha Plant) Caprese and Hatena Block (? Block) Tiramisu. Side note - I like how these areas are tucked away underground, so only their entrance is visible. You can see how going inside each would be like entering into a TARDIS-like Toad House in the main games. IGN reports visitor numbers will be limited upon opening to avoid crowds and advance registration is mandatory. It's also worth noting that Japan is not currently granting tourist visas. Back to scrolling round that website I go.
