Guide by Lottie Lynn Guides Editor Updated on 6 Jan 2021 Comes Now the Power is the second main mission in The Outer Worlds and has four separate conclusions for you to choose from. You need a Power Regulator to make The Unreliable fly again, but you can only get one if you divert the power away from either the town of Edgewater or the camp at the Botanical Lab. No matter which option you pick, someone will be hurt. On this page: Edgewater or Botanical choice in Comes Now the Power explained What happens when you divert the power to Botanical Camp What happens when you divert the power to Edgwater What else do you need to do after choosing Edgewater in The Outer Worlds Watch on YouTube 21 Things to Know When Starting The Outer Worlds Edgewater or Botanical choice in Comes Now the Power explained Once you've turned all the necessary switches in the Geothermal Power Plant, you'll be able to use the main terminal in the master control room to divert the power to either Edgewater or the Botanical Camp. You must pick Edgewater or the Botanical Laboratory. This is your first faction choice in The Outer Worlds. Siding with Edgewater is siding with the corporation Spacer's Choice, while siding with the Botanical Camp will help the deserters who are fighting back against the companies that control Halcyon. Your reputation with both fractions will either decrease or increase depending on your decision, which will affect any faction bonuses you might receive, such as vendor discounts. Your reputation can be both positive and negative. You might also find the locals in certain areas will become more hostile if you have a negative reputation with their faction. Consider what path you want to take in The Outer Worlds before you make this decision, as this choice, along with many others, will affect the overall ending you'll receive. What happens when you divert the power to Botanical Camp If you decide to redirect the power to the Botanical Camp, then you'll receive 2,828 XP. Your reputation with the Deserters will increase, while your reputation with Spacer's Choice will decrease, becoming negative. Upon returning to Edgewater to retrieve the Power Regulator, you'll find Reed in the main area of the cannery. Head to the cannery. When you talk to him, he'll inform you that the guards have orders to shoot you. You'll then have the option to either apologize or, if your Intimidate skill is over 30, threatened him. Either way, you'll receive the Power Regulator and 15,000 XP for completing the quest. What happens when you divert the power to Edgwater If you decide to redirect the power to Edgewater, you'll recieve 2,828 XP. Your reputation with Spacer's Choice will increase, while your reputation with the Deserters will increase. If you're planning on unlocking the trophy to 'Permanently Save Edgewater,' then you must redirect the power to Edgewater. Diverting the power to Edgewater gives you the choice of two different endings, depending on whether you to leave Reed in control of Edgewater. First, however, you must return to Adelaide at the Botanical Camp and talk to her. The Outer Worlds begins on Terra-2 where you can complete The Frightened Engineer quest and decide whether to divert power to Edgewater or the Botanical Lab. Once you've fixed The Unreliable, you can complete Weapons From the Void to unlock the Science Weapons. You can crew The Unreliable with a crew of companions and manage your reputation with various factions too. Finally, if you're ready for spoilers, we have a guide on the various endings. What else do you need to do after choosing Edgewater in The Outer Worlds Upon returning to Adelaide at the Botanical Camp, she will, of course, be angry that you decided not to protect her new home. She will go you to choices: convince her fellow deserters to return to Edgewater under Reed's control or remove Reed entirely, allowing her to become the community's only leader. Just like when you diverted the power, this decision will affect your reputation with Spacer's Choice and the Deserters. Convince Deserters to return to Edgewater Thomas Kemp and Grace Romero are the two deserters that you must convince to return to Edgewater. If you want them to return to Edgewater, then you must first complete their side quests. For Thomas you must complete The Frightened Engineer and, for Grace, A Few Kindred Spirits. You can often find both Grace and Thomas at the campfire in the Botanical Camp. Once you've completed both side quests, you'll be able to convince Thomas and Grace to return to Edgewater. Now you can return to town yourself and tell Reed the good news. You'll be rewarded with 13,200 XP and a reputation boost with Spacer's Choice. Remove Reed from Edgewater There are two ways to make Reed leave Edgewater. The first is murder. This is a risky option, because the two guards in Reed's office will start attacking you. Parvati will also try to leave your party if kill Reed and you don't have 10 Determination to convince her to stay. After you've killed Reed, your reputation with Spacer's Choice will descend the highest negative level and you'll obtain Reed's Key, which will allow you to enter his private room. The second option is to convince him to leave, which you can only do if you have 15 Persuade and 25 Lie. Simply return to Reed's office and go through the dialogue options until you have the opportunity to persuade him to leave. If you know the contents of Adelaide's fertilizer, then the Lie amount will be slightly decreased. Once Reed has left Edgewater, return to Adelaide and she'll give you Adelaide's Watch, which you can sell for 1,750 Bits. Your reputation with the Deserter's will increase, while your reputation with The Board will decrease a small amount.
