Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals announced The after afterparty. News by Tom Phillips Deputy Editor Updated on 15 Apr 2021 12 comments The wonderfully creepy narrative adventure Oxenfree is getting a sequel, developer Night School Studio has announced. Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals was announced during this evening's Nintendo Indie Direct, and it'll launch for Switch in 2021 (and other platforms such as Steam too). Watch on YouTube Oxenfree 2's announcement comes a welcome surprise - it's been five years since the original Oxenfree launched and its developer has since been busy with other projects, such as its drunk-in-hell adventure Afterparty and a Mr Robot spin-off. More to the point - without spoiling anything - the original Oxenfree offered multiple ending paths depending on your choices throughout the game. It'll be interesting to see which (if any) story elements might reappear. This sequel is also set five years after the original Oxenfree, and stars new character Riley, an environmental researcher. She returns to her hometown of Camena to investigate - you guessed it - mysterious radio signals. "Words cannot begin to express how happy I am to finally talk about Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals," Night School Studio co-founder and director Sean Krankel said. "Oxenfree is such a special game to us, and it has been an incredible experience to revisit this world. We're eager to welcome our players back while inviting newcomers to embark on an adventure with an entirely new cast of characters that retains the weird, heartfelt, and personalised experience of the original."
