Guide by Matthew Reynolds Managing Editor Updated on 6 Jun 2021 Pokémon Go's Gible is the focus of June's 2021's Community Day, an event which sees increased spawns of the highlighted Pokémon for six hours. This allows you to not only flesh out your Pokedex entries with this highlighted Pokémon and its evolutions easily, but also helps you find shiny versions. Once you have found the best Gible for your needs - whether that's one with decent stats, a shiny, or possibly both - you'll then want to evolve it and find the best moveset available. This page explains gives you a preview of shiny Gible, and when you're ready to evolve, the Gible evolution chart and Garchomp's best moveset to give it a boost in battle. You can also pick up a Just a Nibble research ticket on the day, giving you rewards such as additional Gible candy, Gible evolution encounters, and a Lucky Egg. Gible's typing - Dragon and Ground - remains the same across all three evolutions. (Image credit: pokemon.com) During Community Day - which runs from 11am to 5pm local time - this is useful to know so you can work out how Candy you need (in other words, how many Gible you need to catch) before the event comes to an end. Remember, there are multiple ways to boost your Candy gains, such as: Using a Pinap Berry (doubling Candy from 3 to 6 per catch) Evolving a dragon-type Mega Evolution - such as Mega Altaria, Mega Ampharos or Mega Charizard X - during the event (+1 Candy per catch) After the event, waiting for the next 2x Candy transfer Spotlight Hour (Tuesday, June 15th) to transfer your caught Gibles The above is particularly useful if you only want to play for only some of Community Day, and not the entire event, to get enough Candy to evolve and power it up fully. When you are ready to evolve - remember to use the 3*, 4* search options in your Pokémon collection to find the one with the best IVs - remember that up to two hours after Community Day ends (7pm local time) the final evolution will learn an event-exclusive move. If you miss this window, then you need to use an Elite Charged TM. Question is - is that move always the best? And what fast move should you pair it with? Garchomp moves and best moveset recommendation explained When evolved into Garchomp, we recommend a moveset of Mud Shot (Fast) and Earth Power (Charged) - the latter is the Community Day exclusive move, meaning you want to evolve a Garchomp on the day (up to 7pm local time). As is the case with Community Day moves, Earth Power takes an already powerful ground type in Garchomp and makes it even better. That said, Earthquake isn't too far behind, especially when it comes to Go Battle League, so don't sweat it too much if you miss out on the day. Ultimately, though Garchomp has competition with other powerful ground types such as Groudon, its dual dragon and ground typing gives it additional useful resistances (such as electric) to see it hold its own in a variety of match ups. Of course, this is all our opinion - if you want the full available set of moves, which you can change using Fast and Charged TMs, they are as follows: Fast Moves: Dragon Tail (Dragon) Mud Shot (Ground) Charged Moves: Earth Power (Ground) - Community Day / Elite Charged TM exclusive Earthquake (Ground) Fire Blast (Fire) Outrage (Dragon) Sand Tomb (Ground) Though the moveset is a priority, there's no doubt on Community Day you want to evolve the best possible Gible - and ideally, it would be a shiny version... Currently live is the Evolving Stars event, which includes the release of quest steps 5 to 8 of A Cosmic Companion - the Season of Light special research quest. Elsewhere, be sure to use Daily Adventure Incense for the chance of encountering Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos and Galarian Moltres. There's also a new special research quest - A Mysterious Incense. Finally - don't forget about the new Prime Gaming rewards every fortnight. What does shiny Gible shiny Gabite and shiny Garchomp look like in Poké mon Go One of the biggest draws of Community Day is the increased chance of finding shiny versions of the highlighted Pokémon. Not only does catching more of the same type increase your likelihood of a shiny anyway, but the shiny rate for the Community Day Pokémon is much higher, too. In other words - it's easy to come away with a handful of shinies in a very short period of time. When it comes to spotting shinies, they should be easy to tell apart from their regular versions thanks to their alternate colour scheme and 'shiny' icon next to their name. Shiny Gible in particular isn't new to Pokémon Go - it first debuted in December 2019 - so it's possible you may have one already. Either way - if you are curious as to what to expect from shiny Gible and its evolutions, here's how they will look in-game... Normal vs Shiny Gible (Image copyright: Niantic) Normal vs Shiny Gabite (Image copyright: Niantic) Normal vs Shiny Garchomp (Image copyright: Niantic) Assuming you want to evolve one, we recommend waiting until the end of Community Day, then finding the one(s) with the best IVs (use the 3*, 4* search options in your Pokémon collection to do this easily) first. Again - you have until 7pm local time (two hours after the event ends) to get the Community Day-exclusive move without having to spend an Elite Charged TM. Ultimately, Community Day is the perfect opportunity to not only have enough Candy to fully evolve a rare creature, but fully power them up, too. If you are smart about which ones to evolve, and which moveset you give them, the event is an excellent opportunity to flesh out your collection with some of the best Pokémon in the game.
