Spongebob, Rugrats star in Smash Bros-style fighting game And Nigel Thornberry. News by Tom Phillips Deputy Editor Updated on 14 Jul 2021 22 comments If Nintendo and Nickelodeon got in a fight and that fight was turned into a video game but without any Nintendo characters, well that's Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl. It's the latest take on the Super Smash Bros style of fighting games, this time filled with classic cartoon characters. Nigel Thornberry, Spongebob and Patrick, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Helga from Hey Arnold!, Reptar from Rugrats and Powdered Toast Man from Ren & Stimpy have all been pulled out of Nickelodeon's vault for the occasion. Watch on YouTube The full character roster is yet to be revealed - the game's official website teases more to come - but will also include fighters from Nickelodeon shows like The Loud House, Invader Zim, Danny Phantom and Aaahh!!! Real Monsters. Expect 20 stages at launch, plus single-player and local/online co-op. How similar does it look to Smash Bros? Very. There's a simple Final Destination-like stage. There are familiar kinds of stage hazards. Nigel Thornberry looks like he's taken a leaf out of Luigi's fighting style. Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl isn't the first Smash Bros. clone and it likely won't be the last. It's headed to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and Xbox this autumn.
