Guide by Chris Tapsell Reviews Editor Additional contributions by Matthew Reynolds Updated on 19 Jul 2022 Pokémon Go Lures have been in the game since launch, but a handful of elemental Lure Modules added since - the Glacial Lure, Mossy Lure and Magnetic Lure - give you different creatures to catch. The roster was expanded further in May 2021 with the addition of the Rainy Lure, helping you catch and evolve certain Pokémon. We explain how to get Rainy Lure, Glacial Lure, Mossy Lure and Magnetic Lures in Pokémon Go, and how each lure Modules work - and most importantly, the new creatures you'll get from doing so. Lure types explained Glacial Lure Mossy Lure Magnetic Lure and Rainy Lure and what Poké mon they attract explained Four types of elemental Lure Module are available in the game: Glacial Lure Module - A frosty Lure Module that attracts Water and Ice Pokémon for 30 minutes. Magnetic Lure Module - An electronic Lure Module that attracts Electric, Steel and Rock Pokémon for 30 minutes. Mossy Lure Module - A natural Lure Module that attracts Bug, Grass and Poison Pokémon for 30 minutes. Rainy Lure Module - A wet Lure Module that attracts Water, Bug and Electric Pokémon for 30 minutes. Gen 5's Cryogonal. Using a Lure in Pokémon Go provides three uses: 1) Once used at a PokéStop, Pokémon of that type are more likely to spawn around that location. Note that Lures cannot be used at a Gym. 2) Exclusive Pokémon can spawn at Lures. To date, there is only one Pokémon that debuted exclusively with a Lure enabled - Gen 5's Cryogonal, available during December 2019's holiday event using a Glacial Lure - but note that has been reported to no longer appear in lures and can spawn in (rare) snowy weather. 3) Each Lure can also offer special evolutions, some of which are exclusive. When in use, you can go to the respective pre-evolution and evolve it into the following: Magnetic Lure evolutions: Magnezone (from Magneton) and Probopass (from Nosepass) Mossy Lure evolutions: Leafeon (from Eevee) Glacial Lure evolutions: Glaceon (from Eevee) Rainy Lure evolutions: Goodra (from Sliggoo - also possible when in-game weather is rainy) Note: Both Leafeon and Glaceon can also use Eevee evolution names if you prefer (although remember you can only do this once per name! More details on that in the guide linked there). The above methods are similar to those in the main games - requiring proximity to magnetic fields, for example, to evolve certain creatures. How to get Glacial Lure Mossy Lure Magnetic Lures and Rainy Lures in Poké mon Go The only guaranteed way to get a Glacial Lure, Mossy Lure, Magnetic Lure and Rainy Lure is from purchasing them in the in-game shop. In July 2022, they were priced at 180 Coins each. These lures have also appeared as a one-time reward for certain questlines, so it's worth keeping an eye out for when they appear. For example, on the Rainy Lure's debut, the final step of the coinciding Luminous Legends X event offered one as a reward. It's worth noting the use of Lures will appear in-game for all local players - so as long as another player has used one, you can reap the benefits. Currently live is the Evolving Stars event, which includes the release of quest steps 5 to 8 of A Cosmic Companion - the Season of Light special research quest. Elsewhere, be sure to use Daily Adventure Incense for the chance of encountering Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos and Galarian Moltres. There's also a new special research quest - A Mysterious Incense. Finally - don't forget about the new Prime Gaming rewards every fortnight. How do standard Lure Modules work Standard Lure Modules in Pokémon Go are pretty simple: they're items earned in a couple of ways in-game that can be placed on PokéStops to increase the amount of wild Pokémon that spawn nearby, for a short period of time. They're primarily acquired through the in-game shop, either as individual purchases or as part of the various 'box' bundles that are frequently rotated through the store. You'll also earn them as rewards from other means occasionally, like levelling up, in a similar way to things like Incubators or Lucky Eggs, but don't exact that to happen often. To use a regular Lure, simply tap on a PokéStop and then tap on the little white space above the disc in the close-up screen, and you'll be able to add a Lure from your inventory there. They usually last for 30 minutes, although during special events like Community Day they're usually boosted to a few hours to help you out! To see this content please enable targeting cookies.
