Guide by Lottie Lynn Guides Editor Additional contributions by Matthew Reynolds Updated on 20 Sep 2022 1 comment The Pokémon Go Community Day is a reoccurring, monthly event highlighting a specific Pokémon that encourages players to get out and play together worldwide. Each event will see increased spawns of the Pokémon for a limited time, and give them an exclusive Community Day move for their final evolution - and several other bonuses you can take advantage of during the event itself. This page features not only the next Community Day date and time and highlighted Pokémon, but also a Community Day list of all previous events and their respective exclusive moves. On this page: What is Community Day in Poké mon Go Pokémon Go's next Community Day explained How to prepare for Poké mon Go Community Day Poké mon Go Community Day list All exclusive moves list and how they work Poké mon Go Community Day Classic list All exclusive moves list Battling and evolving the latest Mega Evolution, Mega Aggron, in Pokémon Go. What is Community Day in Poké mon Go Community Day takes place on one weekend day every month and lasts a total of six hours. As well as increasing spawns of the highlighted Pokémon, there are bonuses during that period of time - such as double XP, Stardust or Lure Modules - as additional incentives to get out there and playing, including the highlighted Pokémon having an increased chance of being shiny, and the ability to reach the highlighted Pokémon's evolution an exclusive move. It's a great way to get resources and a rare version of the highlighted Pokémon, but it's as the name suggests, is a great way to team up with other players. Watch on YouTube Community Days are a great opportunity to raid and trade with others - at a responsible and safe distance, of course. You may find other Pokémon Go players will be out and about with you, which might make it easier to co-ordinate completing Raids or doing Trades, so keep that in mind during the period. Poké mon Go s next Community Day October Community Day date and time explained Here's everything you need to know about October Community Day: Highlighted Pokémon: Litwick Date: Saturday, 15th October Time: 2pm to 5pm local time Bonus 1: x3 Catch XP Bonus 2: Double catch candy Bonus 3: Double chance to receive XL Candy from catching Pokémon for players Level 31 or above Bonus 4: Lure Modules activated during the event will last three hours Bonus 5: Incense activated during the event will last three hours Bonus 6: Trades during event and up to five hours afterwards will require 50% less Stardust Bonus 7: Can conduct one additional Special Trade can be conducted between 2pm to 10pm (local time), for a total of three Special Trades on that day Exclusive move for Chandelure: Poltergeist (Ghost Charged Attack) Bonus Raid Battles: Between 5pm to 10pm (local time) you'll be able to take part in Lampent four-star raids. If you attend these raids in person and win, Litwicks will appear around the Gym which hosted the raid for 30 minutes. These Litwicks will have their shiny rate increased. How useful is this Community Day? The Litwick Community Day is a great event for newcomers, players who love the Go Battle League and shiny hunters. With Chandelure remaining one of the best ghost-type Pokémon in the game, October's Community Day is the perfect chance to catch a Litwick with perfect stats. You can then easily transform this Litwick into a powerful Chandelure for raiding, defending Gyms or any of the Go Battle Leagues. Since Poltergeist is being added to Pokémon Go as part of this event, we don't know how useful this move will be at the time of writing, but it's worth experimenting with. This Community Day also marks the release of shiny Litwick, Lampent and Chandelure - a fitting choice for the supernatural season. As always, this Community Day event will have increased shiny rates, so its the perfect time to add this new shiny to your collection. If you're a newcomer to Pokémon Go, we highly recommend using this event to complete the Pokédex entries for Litwick's evolution line. Outside of events, Litwick can be quite a rare Pokémon and this fact, coupled with the amount of candy required for the evolutions, means that it can be hard for new players to add this Pokémon's evolution line to the Pokédex. Finally, the triple catch XP bonus occuring during event hours makes this Community Day ideal for grinding to the next level. How to prepare for Poké mon Go Community Day First of all, the secret allure of Community Day is the introduction of a shiny version of the highlighted Pokémon, which will have a boosted rate during the event. That, combined with the increased spawns, makes it easy to get a a handful of shinies across the six hours. Remember, unlike high IV Pokémon, shinies don't appear in the same place for everyone like high-IV Pokémon - there's a random chance of each one you encounter could be a shiny. If you're struggling, try 'shiny checking', by tapping a Pokémon, then backing out without catching, then moving on to the next. Second, there will be bonus Field Research. Community Days also have their own special Field Research tasks based on the specific Pokémon the day is highlighting. The rewards are usually just consumable items - Berries and the like - but it's an additional thing to complete as you play. Third, every Community Day offers 3-Hour Lures. This is the perfect day to catch as many Pokémon as physically possible, and with the increased spawn rate, increase your chances of finding a shiny. The best way to take advantage of these bonuses is to find a set of PokéStops that are in quick walking distance or one another. You can then set up a Lure Module in one (or in multiple) and then walk between the PokéStops; taking advantage of the Lure and ensuring that you don't run out of Poké Balls or Berries. It's also an ideal time to experiment with either a Glacial Lure, Mossy Lure or Magnetic Lure Modules. These special lures attract a specific type of Pokémon depending on your chosen Lure. If you wanted to catch Water or Ice Pokémon, for example, then you would use a Glacial Lure Module. These specialised Lure Modules cost 200 PokéCoins from the in-game shop.. Watch on YouTube There are also specific bonuses for each Community Day, from reduced hatching distance to increased Stardust and XP. Even without the bonuses, remember Community Day is an opportunity to catch a lot of creatures in a short space of time, useful if you want to get through the backlog of Eggs in your roster, or put on a Lucky Egg or Star Piece to increase your gains from catches. Remember, if there is a deduced hatch rate, you only get bonus on Eggs you put into incubators during Community Day bonus hours. If you have an egg in an incubator before the event starts, it's hatch distance still stay the same. Also, if you don't hatch it before the event ends, it will stay that reduced distance until it does - so worth cramming one last one in before the event finishes! Also before the event itself, it may also be worth stockpiling Pinap Berries and Great or Ultra Balls. The Pinaps will increase your Candy gains - useful for evolving and powering up after the event ends - and you can really burn through Poké Balls over the course of the event. If you run out, then spin PokéStops or complete the newly added Field Research that appears. Finally, make sure you evolve the highlighted Pokémon to its third evolution to get an exclusive move. More of this in the following section... Currently live is the Evolving Stars event, which includes the release of quest steps 5 to 8 of A Cosmic Companion - the Season of Light special research quest. Elsewhere, be sure to use Daily Adventure Incense for the chance of encountering Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos and Galarian Moltres. There's also a new special research quest - A Mysterious Incense. Finally - don't forget about the new Prime Gaming rewards every fortnight. Poké mon Go Community Day list All exclusive moves list and how they work Every featured Pokémon during a Community Day weekend will offer an exclusive move when evolved to its final evolution. Not only are these exclusive to these weekends, but they are more often than not the best move their third evolution can offer, and can propel them up the meta. You have two hours after the Community Day ends to evolve the Pokémon to get their move, so don't worry about having to sort through your collection during the six hour window. If you miss out on evolving the Pokémon once Community Day weekend is over to get the exclusive move, don't panic - you can use an Elite TM, or wait until December, where a special weekend will give you another chance to catch and evolve that previous year's Community Day Pokémon. The rules for earning this exclusive move are exactly the same too - you must reach the final evolution for the chosen Pokémon and said evolution must take place during the event or within the first two hours after it ends. These moves may not always be the best attack for this Pokémon, but, if want it and miss out on the event, you can always use an Elite TM on the final evolution to teach them the move.
