Bungie’ s Future Titles Will Not Be PlayStation Exclusives 1 February 2022 by Richard Breslin Following Sony’s acquisition of Bungie, it has been revealed that the studio will not create PlayStation exclusives. As detailed on Bungie.net, it’s stated that the Destiny and ex-Halo developer will continue to create multiplatform titles. This apparently not only includes new games but also DLC, perks and more. Bungie is joining PlayStation. Here’s what to expect from this exciting news: https://t.co/s1L3PhQ9vK pic.twitter.com/0R1qhnEDKk- PlayStation (@PlayStation) January 31, 2022 “Our commitment to Destiny 2 as a multi-platform game with full crossplay remains unchanged,” reads a statement. “We want you to play The Witch Queen on 22nd February 2022, on the platform of your choice.”ADVERT ADVERT Okay, so that’s The Witch Queen expansion explained, but what about future Bungie content. Does this mean that future content will be exclusive to PlayStation? “No,” confirmed Bungie. “We want the worlds we are creating to extend to anywhere people play games. We will continue to be self-published, creatively independent, and we will continue to drive one, unified Bungie community.” I suppose this will be comforting news to Destiny fans that play on PC and Xbox. However, as we know in the gaming industry, a lot of change in an instant.ADVERT ADVERT Credit: Bungie Will things change in the coming years Following Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the Xbox giant stated that they will continue to make some games for PlayStation. At least for the immediate future, titles such as Call of Duty will continue to be multiplatform. Likewise, even if Sony says Bungie titles will also continue to be multiplatform, that doesn’t mean things won’t change in the years to come. Let’s say that if either Sony or Microsoft find itself trailing behind in the “console wars” technically, each could use a Bungie or Activision IP trump card to pull itself back into the race. Obviously, that’s all hearsay at this time. So, we’ll just have to wait to see how this all plays out over time.ADVERT ADVERT Do you believe that either Microsoft or Sony will stick to its word and make its big titles multiplatform?
