Days Gone Director Says It s Weird Sony Never Greenlit Sequel Despite Good Sales 6 January 2022 by Richard Breslin Days Gone director has claimed that Sony’s decision not to greenlight a sequel was weird and was made to feel a disappointment. Responding to news that Ghost of Tsushima has now sold over 8 million copies, director of Days Gone, Jeff Ross expressed his disappointment of not getting a sequel. At the time I left Sony, Days Gone had been out for a year and a half (and a month), and sold over 8 million copies. It's since gone on to sell more, and then a million+ on Steam. Local studio management always made us feel like it was a big disappointment. #daysgone #PlayStation https://t.co/KMZr2pGe9r- Jeff Ross (@JakeRocket) January 5, 2022 In a tweet, Ross stated that when he left Sony Days Gone had been out for a year and a half. During that time, he claimed that Days Gone had also sold over 8 million copies. Furthermore, with Days Gone coming to Steam, the post-apocalyptic zombie horror has apparently sold an additional 1 million copies.ADVERT ADVERT By most standards, a game that sells nearly 10 million copies would be considered a success. However, Ross also claimed that local studio management “always made us feel like it [Days Gone] was a big disappointment.” Credit: SIE Bend Studios Personally, I like Days Gone. It was more than just an open-world, post-apocalyptic horror. It had a gritty story, its zombies aka “Freakers” gave me a genuine sense of danger and when you have hundreds of undead charging at you, it really is an experience like none other. Fans have been calling for a Days Gone sequel for quite some time and last year a petition was launched. At the time of writing, the petition calling for a Days Gone sequel has generated over 140,000 signatures. Sadly, it seems like the sequel might not ever happen, despite decent sales.ADVERT ADVERT Will we ever get the sequel When a follower responded to Jeff Ross’ tweets saying: “I would never understand that decision of Sony about the sequel because it is clearly a huge success. Unfair.” Ross replied: “Yep! 100% agree. It’s weird!” Yep! 100% agree. It’s weird!— Jeff Ross (@JakeRocket) January 6, 2022 In this industry, the term “never say never” comes to mind. However, as much as I would love to see it, I won’t be holding my breath for a Days Gone sequel. Would you like to see a sequel to Days Gone?
