GamesMaster Series Is Back And It Didn’ t Ruin My Childhood 23 November 2021 by Richard Breslin The GamesMaster TV series is back and to my joyful surprise, it didn’t ruin my childhood. Not to be overly dramatic or anything. Back in the 90s, I used to rush home from school to catch the latest episode of GamesMaster on Channel 4. Well, I say I used to rush home from school, but it’s been that many years I haven’t a clue what time it actually aired. But you get my point. Watch the first episode of GamesMaster right now! IMPOSSIBLE Gaming Challenges & An EPIC Battle For The Golden Joystick! https://t.co/5Vtb3Kp8D3- GamesMaster (@GamesMaster) November 23, 2021 It was one of my favourite TV series of all time. Not only did we get to see some of the latest video games being played, but there were competitions and tournaments, with contestants hoping to win the prestigious Golden Joystick Award.ADVERT ADVERT A classic is reborn The show featured everyday folk like you and me, some celebrity contestants, video game cheat codes (this was way before the internet) and loads of humour. It really was a special series and was even enjoyed by those that didn’t even have much of an interest in video games. However, more than 20 years later GamesMaster is back and I’m over the moon to say it was really good. I know it sounds pessimistic to be surprised to see something that is actually good. But how many times have we seen a favourite show or movie return, only for it to totally ruin our childhood? Yes, now I’m being dramatic.ADVERT ADVERT What s new is old and what s old is new The new GamesMaster show has new presenters, a new location and even a new “GamesMaster” with Sir Trevor McDonald taking up the iconic role from Sir Patrick Moore who sadly passed away in 2012. Thankfully, despite its makeover, GamesMaster has retained much of its cheesy charm that made me love this series over two decades ago. Credit: Channel 4/E4 Presented by Robert Florence, Frankie Ward and Ty Logan, each brought their own vibe, style, and humour to the show. The trio was bursting with charisma and passion for the revived project. We even saw the return of Big Boy Larry accompanied by his son, Little Boy Larry, who annihilated a contestant in a game of Splatoon 2. Even Scottish indie wrestler Grado made a cameo. The cat is out the bag! Hopefully some of you have seen the surprise I’ve had to sit on for ages. Big Boy’s back, and this time, I’m not alone! Enjoy! #GamesMaster #littleladlarry pic.twitter.com/Ql9xqtsqZY- Alex Verrey (@RealBigBoyBarry) November 21, 2021 GamesMaster aired earlier this week on the E4 YouTube channel, and it was a joy to watch the show with my wife. If there’s one thing that this GamesMaster revival has proven, it’s an example of how to revive a beloved classic of yesteryear. To make it modern, but still retain the charm of its source material.ADVERT ADVERT When and where can I watch GamesMaster The first episode has already aired on the E4 YouTube channel, so you can watch it right now. The first episode will also air on the E4 TV channel tomorrow on Wednesday, November 24th at 10pm GMT. Here on out, each episode of GamesMaster will air on Sunday at 7pm GMT/2pm EST/11 am PST on the E4 YouTube channel and every Wednesday at 10pm GMT on the E4 TV channel. It really doesn’t matter if you’re a returning fan or new to the GamesMaster series, if you love video games, you won’t want to miss an episode. Now my dream of being at the show one day has rekindled and I can’t wait for next week.ADVERT ADVERT SHOP WITH GAMEBYTE Do not forget you can find great games and more on the GameByte Shop!
