Halo Co-Creator Has ‘ Mixed Emotions’ By The Choices In The Show 24 May 2022 by Oisin Kuhnke Co-creator of Halo Marcus Lehto has shared some of his thoughts about the recent live action Halo show. The Halo show was probably always going to be a bit divisive, as all live action adaptations of games are. Now, one of Halo’s co-creators has shared some of his thoughts and feelings on the show. Which certainly seem like they’re a bit of a mixed bag all in all. “I’m still getting through the series. Lots of mixed emotions and opinions!” said Lehto when asked by a fan what he thought of the show. Which is an entirely reasonable response for something you’re the creator of. Later though, Lehto’s comments seemed to sway more towards confusion at where the inspirations came from.ADVERT ADVERT For clarity, I never said I didn't like it. It's just so different than the Halo I helped make – like it's a different universe.- Marcus Lehto (@game_fabricator) May 17, 2022 “I’m not sure where the inspiration for the show comes from now,” Lehto said also in response to a fan who said that the show wasn’t Halo to them. “Not the Halo I made.” Important to note though is that Lehto doesn’t feel negatively about the show. “For clarity, I never said I didn’t like it. It’s just so different than the Halo I helped make – like it’s a different universe.“ Lehto isn’t exactly wrong on that front. Showrunner of the Halo show Steven Kane made some odd comments in March saying that the team “didn’t look at the game.” The show also specifically operates on a new timeline called The Silver Timeline, so you know, it is a different universe really! Credit: 343 Industries But Lehto again further expanded upon his thoughts saying “I didn’t say I hate the show. Some parts are interesting. Just confused by many of the choices that were made which feel pretty far outside the core fiction I helped create.“ADVERT ADVERT Ultimately, Lehto’s comments can’t change anything about the show. The TV team did what they wanted to do, for better or worse. But it is always interesting to get the perspective of the creator of a project who’s pretty removed from their own creation.
