"Our ambition is to empower gamers to play when, and how, and where they want." Microsoft Says Xbox Consoles Are The ‘ Market Leader’ Right Now 28 April 2022 by Oisin Kuhnke According to Microsoft, the Xbox Series X and S have outsold the PlayStation 5 this quarter, placing it as the “market leader” in the US, Canada, and Europe. Earlier this week (April 26) Microsoft released its earnings report for the fiscal year 2022 third quarter. And in it, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella confirmed that the Xbox Series X and S have beaten the PS5 in sales for the quarter. “Our ambition is to empower gamers to play when, and how, and where they want,” said Nadella in the conference call. “With our Xbox Series S and X consoles, we have taken share globally for two quarters in a row and we are the market leader this quarter among the next-gen consoles in the United States, Canada, UK, and Western Europe.“ADVERT ADVERT Which current gen console is your favourite?Vote! are microsoft turning things around For years now, since the days of the Xbox One, Microsoft hasn’t actually revealed official sales figures of its consoles. That’s likely to do with the fact that the Xbox One’s launch was generally considered a bit of a disaster. Mostly due to weird decisions made early on like not being able to share discs with friends. Though generally the bad decisions were later u-turned. And so far the PS5 seems to be selling better, though by now it’s pretty infamously hard to get. The Xbox Series X can also be hard to get due to supply chain issues. But the Series S by comparison isn’t. Which is likely a big factor as to why the pair of consoles have beaten out the PS5 in the most recent financial quarter. Whether it will continue to do so remains to be seen. But with the Game Pass, Microsoft has positioned itself in a pretty strong position.
