Ghostwire Tokyo Dev Working On A Non-Horror Game For Xbox 25 March 2022 by Richard Breslin In a recent interview, The Evil Within and Ghostwire: Tokyo developer Tango Gameworks confirmed it’s working on a new non-horror related, Xbox exclusive. Speaking to Famitsu (transcribed by VGC), Resident Evil creator and Tango Gameworks boss, Shinji Mikami confirmed the studio is working on a new IP. However, the studio’s new game will not be horror. In fact, it’s said to be the “complete opposite.” Mikami revealed the new IP is being led by John Johanas, who directed DLC for The Evil Within as well as the sequel. Mikami said that Johanas is: “working on a completely new title that is the complete opposite of horror […] It’s a really good game, so keep your eyes peeled.”ADVERT ADVERT Credit: Tango Gameworks Horror is on the backburner for now As a fan of survival horror, I’m disappointed that Tango Gameworks’ next title will not be The Evil Within 3. Unless the third game will arrive at a later date or will be developed by another Bethesda studio. However, I understand the studio’s desire to move away from that niche. “Of course, it’s nice to have fans think of us as a studio with a reputation for developing survival horror games,” Mikami said. “But we also want to be viewed as a studio that can create a wider variety of games. We will be releasing more and more new games in the future, starting with Ghostwire: Tokyo, so please give us your support.” Naturally, as Microsoft now owns Bethesda, Tango Gameworks falls under its umbrella. Meaning that all future titles from the studio will be Xbox console exclusives.ADVERT ADVERT Tango Gameworks’ recent release, Ghostwire: Tokyo is a timed PS5 exclusive. This is due to an existing deal with Sony prior to the Microsoft acquisition. However, Ghostwire: Tokyo will be released for Xbox at some point and will launch on Xbox Game Pass.
