Here’ s How Gran Turismo 7 Runs On PS4 And PS5 Consoles 3 March 2022 by Joshua Boyles For those still rocking a last generation console, you’ll be pleased to know that Gran Turismo 7 is releasing on PS4 as well as PS5. As you’d expect, there are some pretty significant graphical differences between the two platforms. The PS5 will obviously make Gran Turismo 7 look its absolute best, but the PS4 doesn’t pull any punches either. Here’s how Gran Turismo 7 runs on both the PS4 and the PS5.ADVERT ADVERT Gran Turismo 7 – PS4 and PS5 Performance The legendary Digital Foundry has performed one of their excellent visual breakdowns on Gran Turismo 7, as per usual. We’re not going to be able to give any more insight than the experts are, so feel free to give their video a watch if you’re after the granular detail. We can, however, give you a rough idea of what you can expect when you first boot up the game. On PS5, the game runs at a native 4K resolution at all times. This makes the image look super sharp, no matter which mode you’re playing on. You then have the option to either prioritise frame rate or ray tracing. But what does this mean? If you choose the ‘prioritise frame rate’ option, then you’ll see an unlocked frame rate with ray tracing enabled. However, ray tracing will only be enabled in the ‘Scenes’ and ‘Replay’ mode. You may also see some ray traced reflections while inspecting cars in the garage. While the frame rate is unlocked, you may find that it strays above 30 frames per second while racing. It may not be a constant 60, but will fluctuate around the mid forties, to my eye.ADVERT ADVERT Choosing to ‘prioritise framerate’ will forgo any ray tracing effects and lock the frame rate at a constant 60. From our testing, we found this to be extremely consistent. Credit: Sony What about PS4 If you;re playing on PS4, then you sadly won’t be able to take advantage of any ray tracing features. The PS4 Pro runs Gran Turismo 7 at a resolution of 1800p, so not quite 4K. 1080p is the standard for the base PS4. All PS4 versions of the game will target 60fps, though it may dip during intensive sections.
