Dead Island 2 Release Could Be Next Year Says Parent Company 18 February 2022 by Richard Breslin Dead Island 2 could release in 2023. That’s at least what an earnings presentation with the Deep Silver parent company suggests. Dead Island 2 was first revealed way back in 2014, with its development only expected to take around two years. However, the post-apocalyptic zombie sequel has been buried deep in developmental hell. It’s even been passed around multiple development studios, the latest being UK-based Sumo Digital. Last week it was claimed by industry insider Tom Henderson that Dead Island 2 could finally release this year or even early 2023. However, a recent earnings presentation has added more foundation to those claims.ADVERT ADVERT It’ s been a long time coming As reported by VGC, Embracer Group, the parent company of Dead Island 2 publisher Deep Silver, suggests that the game could be released next year. Furthermore, it’s suggested that the zombie sequel could be released by the end of the next fiscal year, March 31st, 2023. During the earnings presentation, a host of a Q&A session dropped the biggest hint yet that Dead Island 2’s release is near. “It very clearly is [still alive], and I at least expect the release this financial year, or sorry next financial year I should say,” said Oscar Erixon, equity research analyst at Carnegie. “So, is that reasonable and what can we expect from a title that has been in development for probably 10 years or so?” There s no smoke without fire Replying to the comments, Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors said: “I can’t talk about Dead Island 2 because it’s not announced as such from the publisher. But we have just talked about [that] we have one unannounced AAA title… that you think is Dead Island 2, so it’s hard for me to comment further on that.”ADVERT ADVERT Credit: Deep Silver Obviously, this is by no means official confirmation that a new announcement is on the verge of happening.
