How long does it take to beat God of War Ragnarok 4 October 2022 by Richard Breslin Here’s how long it might take to beat the forthcoming God of War Ragnarok which releases for PS5 and PS4 next month. Ragnarok is nearly upon us and it will soon be time for Kratos with Atreus by his side to brutally slay the gods that continually seem eager to poke the bear. At this point, you’d think they’d realise to just leave Kratos alone. With the launch of God of War Ragnarok on the horizon, it’s left many wondering “how long to beat” the next adventures of Kratos and Atreus. ADVERT ADVERT Well, we might not have exact numbers. Thankfully, however, we do have an estimate of how long you’ll be causing havoc in the Nine Realms. However, it might be around 40 hours should you partake in the side activities. Furthermore, Henderson claims that 3 and a half hours of the 20-hour story will be made up of cinematics. While the remaining 16 and a half hours will be gameplay. For the other 20 hours spent on side activities, it is claimed that 1 hour of that time will be cinematic related.ADVERT ADVERT Additionally, as pointed out by Henderson, if the numbers for Ragnarok are true, it would make the sequel about 8 to 9 hours longer on average than the 2018 game. That is when you consider the main story and side activities. That particular data is taken from the “How Long to Beat” website. Experiences will differ Credit: Santa Monica Studio Of course, these numbers can be massively different for each player. For example, it had taken me much longer than the 40-hour estimate to finish God of War (2018). I am the kind of player that is never in any rush, as I enjoy searching every corner as well as soaking in the whole experience as much as possible. Additionally, the 40-hour estimate was also mentioned by fellow video game journalist, David Jaffe in 2020. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Jaffe said: “I’m hearing from people in the know that that game is 40 hours. They’re aiming for 40 hours of gameplay.ADVERT ADVERT “I don’t know if that’s a 100% Platinum Trophy completion or if that’s average playtime. Is it guaranteed? No. Things get cut, things get added. But what I can tell you right now – 40 hours of gameplay is what they’re shooting for the new God of War”.
