Here’ s why Rockstar isn’ t developing Red Dead and GTA 4 remasters 6 July 20226 July 2022 by Richard Breslin Grand Theft Auto 6 is the reason why Rockstar Games has shelved the alleged GTA 4 and Red Dead Redemption remasters. Earlier this week, reports were making the rounds that Rockstar Games had shelved plans to develop remasters for both GTA 4 as well as Red Dead Redemption. Many of you have been asking about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series. With every new project, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we've previously delivered. We're pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the series is underway.- Rockstar Games (@RockstarGames) February 4, 2022 It was claimed that the idea of remastering both games was proposed a few years ago, however, Rockstar decided not to go forward with those plans. Furthermore, it seems that Rockstar has more than one reason why it shelved the rumoured remasters.ADVERT ADVERT GTA 6 is the focus According to a report from Kotaku, sources say that Rockstar Games wants to be completely focused on the development of Grand Theft Auto 6, and nothing else. However, the poorly received Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition has also played a huge part in Rockstar’s decision. Credit: Rockstar Games Earlier this week, Rockstar Games leaker Tez2 first broke reports of the shelved remasters. While there is always a degree of doubt over such claims, Kotaku collaborated with its own sources and the outlet believes that Tez2’s information is correct. Kotaku has reached out to Rockstar Games for a comment on the speculation. However, I think we all know that Rockstar won’t comment on rumours and speculation.ADVERT ADVERT Will lessons be learned Personally, I would love to see remasters of GTA 4 and Red Dead Redemption. If Rockstar is concerned with the reception of the GTA remastered trilogy, hopefully, it will learn from its mistakes. That’s assuming Rockstar Games decides to make the remasters happen once it’s finished with GTA 6. Do you believe that the Grand Theft Auto 4 and Red Dead Redemption remasters will still happen?
