Starfield Will Be Designed More Like Older Bethesda Games 14 June 2022 by Richard Breslin Bethesda has confirmed that Starfield will have a silent main protagonist, keeping with the tradition of older games from the studio. Following this week’s epic gameplay reveal for Starfield, some players were left wondering if the main protagonist will have a voice. After all, during the 15-minute presentation, Bethesda gave us a glimpse at the advanced character creation suite. Unfortunately, despite Bethesda claiming that Starfield will have the company’s most advanced character creation, there will not be the option for your character to have a voice.ADVERT ADVERT Silence speaks volumes To be fair, this might not be an issue for many Bethesda fans. Having a silent protagonist has been a common trend in Bethesda’s other RPG franchises such as The Elder Scrolls and Fallout. However, Fallout 4 changed this and gave the main character a voice. Brian T. Delaney played the male protagonist while Courtenay Taylor voiced the female protagonist. This change was unpopular amongst many fans, who criticised it for restricting quest choices and branching dialogue trees. So it’s nice to see this won’t be the case with Starfield.ADVERT ADVERT Yes, dialogue in @StarfieldGame is first person and your character does not have a voice. pic.twitter.com/A8384m6rGN- Bethesda Game Studios (@BethesdaStudios) June 13, 2022 In relation to the protagonist’s form of conversion, dialogue taking place with NPCs in Starfield will be portrayed in first-person. However, during gameplay, as with more recent instalments of The Elders Scrolls and Fallout series, players will have the option of exploring the galaxy from first-person and third-person perspectives. Starfield arrives next year In Starfield: “the year is 2330. Humanity has ventured beyond our solar system, settling new planets, and living as a spacefaring people,” reads the official blurb. ‘Starfield Looks Bad’ – Why Fans Aren’t Happy “From humble beginnings as a space miner, you will join Constellation – the last group of space explorers seeking rare artefacts throughout the galaxy – and navigate the vast expanse of the Settled Systems in Bethesda Game Studios’ biggest and most ambitious game.”ADVERT ADVERT Are you disappointed that Starfield will have a silent protagonist?
