While the studio is currently gearing up to launch Season 2, on Monday it provided some insight into its longer-term plans for the game in a development update video which is viewable below. Headlining the Season 3 update is the decision to rework the game’s divisive Specialists system in order to bring it closer to something that will be more familiar to players of previous series entries. Battlefield 2042 Season 1: Zero Hour Gameplay TrailerSubscribe to VGC on YouTube “Earlier this year we put together a team to analyse the feedback received, and we’re now ready to talk about the future of Specialists and the class system,” said DICE producer Alexia Christofi. “The arrival of Specialists in Battlefield 2042 has been polarising. We have heard you. So, in Season 3 we’ll be moving Specialists into the classic and familiar Battlefield class system. They’ll have traits available to all Specialists within a given class, with existing open gadgets and throwables split between classes to fit their role. We want to hear more from you. Specialists are not being removed from Battlefield 2042, but this evolution connecting them to the class system is one we know many of you have asked for. “This is a significant change from us development-wise, which is why we are taking the time to get it right. And so, we’ll bring it during Season 3.” Further reading 1 EA’ s new Seattle studio is hiring for the next Battlefield single-player campaignThe studio features Halo co-founder Marcus Lehto as a game directorElsewhere in the video, DICE offered a sneak peek at the next in a series of reworks for the game’s launch maps.
