As spotted and shared by Reddit user iV1rus0, the footage consists of two clips, one lasting 5 minutes and the other lasting 38 minutes. It’s not yet clear who leaked the footage and why it was shared, but a discussion which can be heard in the shorter video implies that whoever recorded the footage wasn’t the person playing the game. Instead, it appears that the player was streaming their footage online – likely via Discord – and others were viewing it. Diablo IV: Developer Gameplay ShowcaseSubscribe to VGC on YouTube The video contains numerous watermarks that say “Private Test Build” along with an ID number which likely makes it easy for Blizzard to determine who streamed the footage and take action accordingly. While it’s not clear how the person obtained access to the game, one theory being shared is that it may be related to the ‘friends and family’ alpha test which has been ongoing since last month. As such, the streamer may be related to a Blizzard employee. What’s clear, however, is that the footage now being leaked was recorded by someone else watching them play. As the shorter video starts, one person (whose voice is distorted) can be heard asking another: “Are you watching Skye right now? Watch Skye right now.” “Why are we watching Skye? What he is playing?” asks the second person, who then realises what’s being streamed. “This is not Diablo IV,” they say in apparent disbelief. “It is,” the first person replies. Video embedded from Files.Fm As the footage continues to play, it becomes apparent that the people watching the video don’t know the streamer. One viewer asks “who is this person”, while another replies: “I dunno, but I’ve been watching for a while.” “So, was this coordinated or did he just hop in here and start streaming this?” asks one viewer. “Just hopped in,” replies the other. The major difference, however, is that Blizzard has already shown Diablo IV footage in the past, whereas GTA 6 had been previously unseen. Footage from Diablo 4‘s ‘family and friends’ alpha was also shared last month before it was taken down. This footage, however, only showed character customisation, game creation and the difficulty selection screen, rather than actual gameplay. 1 Comment Related VGC Content Microsoft files its case for Activision acquisition with EU competition regulator1 week ago Diablo 4 end game beta invites are being sent out1 week ago Diablo Immortal players in orb debt are being banned from PvP activites3 weeks ago Diablo Immortal players are being ‘ stripped of third-party orbs’ leading to huge debts1 month ago Popular Now on VGC1 Harley Quinn voice actor criticises Chris Pratt Mario casting ‘ It should be Charles’ 2 Phil Spencer could be teasing Xbox s game streaming device in a new office photo3 Modern Warfare 2 will seemingly require a phone number like Overwatch 24 Interview How PlatinumGames is betting on Nintendo expertise to shape its future5 Platinum thinks hiring of Nintendo veteran can take the companies relationship to the next level More Video Game News The Pokémon Company denies claims that it has issues with ‘ Nuzlocke runs’ It was alleged that it "erased" people from its creator programme for doing the runs3 weeks ago1 US PlayStation shipments were reportedly up 400% last monthPS5 supply appears to be increasing as Christmas approaches1 hour ago1 Comment Overwatch 2 servers down for some as Blizzard removes two heroes temporarilyThe game's rocky launch has caused much fan frustration2 hours ago19 GTA 6 leaker claims he’ s ‘ looking to negotiate a deal’ with RockstarThe leaks have flooded social media since they first emerged on Sunday morning3 weeks ago19 CommentsBy commenting on this article you agree to adhere to VGC’s community guidelines.
