It will be free to join for adult PlayStation Network account holders and won’t require a PlayStation Plus membership, although having one will offer additional benefits. “There are two types of rewards – loyalty points and digital collectibles,” Sony said in a guide published on Wednesday. “Points can be redeemed in a catalog that may include PSN wallet funds, exclusive digital collectibles and select PlayStation Store products. “As an additional benefit, PlayStation Plus members enrolled in PlayStation Stars automatically earn points for purchases on PlayStation Store.” At launch, simply by joining, all members will receive the Star Gazer Telescope. A number of upcoming digital collectibles were revealed in the trailer above, which first aired during a State of Play presentation earlier this month. “Digital collectibles represent the things that PlayStation fans enjoy, including cherished devices that tap into Sony’s broader heritage in consumer electronics,” Grace Chen, PlayStation’s vice president of network advertising, loyalty and licensed merchandise, said at the time. “These first look examples include a scene with Punto the gondolier from Ape Escape 2, PlayStation 3, PocketStation, Toro and Kuro celebrating a birthday, Chord Machine, and Polygon Man.” These collectibles will only be available through PlayStation Stars. “In some instances, collectibles will be provided as a way to commemorate past activities, achievements, or product ownership,” Chen said. “They range in rarity, just like the actual products on which they are based or the effort required to earn them.” Players will be able to arrange collectibles in a virtual display case within the PlayStation App and show them off to friends within their PSN profile. You can’t trade them or sell them"The primary way to earn collectibles will be through completing campaigns. “The campaigns in PlayStation Stars will be fun, delightful, and yes, sometimes challenging to complete,” said Chen. “A campaign may be a point-earning or collectible-earning activity. “One of our first campaigns is ‘Hit Play/1994’, where members who correctly launch games that match song-based clues receive a special collectible.” 1 Comment Related VGC Content US PlayStation shipments were reportedly up 400% last month1 hour ago PlayStation Stars is giving top members priority chat support in the west too5 days ago Sony says the latest PS5 update improves system performance 5 days ago The PlayStation Stars loyalty program is now live in North and South America5 days ago Popular Now on VGC1 Harley Quinn voice actor criticises Chris Pratt Mario casting ‘ It should be Charles’ 2 Modern Warfare 2 will seemingly require a phone number like Overwatch 23 Phil Spencer could be teasing Xbox s game streaming device in a new office photo4 Interview How PlatinumGames is betting on Nintendo expertise to shape its future5 Platinum thinks hiring of Nintendo veteran can take the companies relationship to the next level More Video Game News3 A video showing Returnal’ s PC settings menu has seemingly leakedFootage appears to show how players will be able to customise the game's graphics settings1 week ago3 Comments US PlayStation shipments were reportedly up 400% last monthPS5 supply appears to be increasing as Christmas approaches1 hour ago Overwatch 2 servers down for some as Blizzard removes two heroes temporarilyThe game's rocky launch has caused much fan frustration1 hour ago Disney Dreamlight Valley s first major content update targets October releaseIt will introduce Lion King’s Scar and continue the main story, among other features1 week agoBy commenting on this article you agree to adhere to VGC’s community guidelines.
