Apex Legends PS5 and Xbox Series X S updates launching today The Loadout The Loadout Apex Legends PS5 and Xbox Series X S updates launching today The Apex Legends PS5 and Xbox Series XS release date has been announced and it is arriving sooner than expected, although these upgrades are missing features Joe Apsey Updated: Mar 29, 2022 09:52 ET Apex Legends Respawn has unexpectedly announced the Apex Legends PS5 and Xbox Series XS release date late on Monday evening, with the upgrades arriving tomorrow, March 29. The upgrades will launch alongside the Warriors Collection event update and the return of Control in Apex Legends. However, while the upgrades' release date announcement came at an unexpected time ratings for the upgrades appeared earlier this year, suggesting they were on their way. We just didn't expect it to be so soon! Players on either PS5 or Xbox Series XS will only get a limited set of upgrades initially with more to be added down the line. Initially, PS5 and Xbox Series X players will get access to a 4K resolution mode, HDR support, 60 fps gameplay, improved resolution shadow maps, and a greater level of detail at longer distances in the environment. Xbox Series S players will only see an upgrade in the form of 60 fps gameplay and HDR support. In future updates (which don't yet have a date) the PS5 and Xbox Series XS versions of the game will add 120 fps performance modes, alongside more visual and audio improvements. PS5 players will also see Dualsense support through adaptive triggers and haptic feedback features. Xbox Series XS owners will be able to upgrade easily through Smart Delivery once the update goes live on March 29, with the Series XS version automatically delivered to their console. However, for PS5 players you will need to re-download the game from the PlayStation Store, making sure they have the 'PS5' version selected from the storefront in order to see these upgrades in-game. The Warriors Collection Event will bring next-gen versions of Apex Legends to PS5 and XSX! Hopefully, the extra enhancements and features listed above are added sooner rather than later over the coming weeks.
