Death Stranding 2 seemingly in production according to Norman Reedus The Loadout The Loadout Death Stranding 2 seemingly in production according to Norman Reedus Norman Reedus seems to have confirmed that Death Stranding 2 is in development, saying in an interview that "we just started the second one" Joe Apsey Updated: May 20, 2022 10:49 ET Death Stranding Director's Cut Death Stranding 2 appears to have been accidentally confirmed by Norman Reedus in a new interview with Leo Edit, with the actor saying "We just started the second one." That response followed Reedus being asked about his work schedule, including The Walking Dead, its spinoff, and his work on Death Stranding as Sam Porter Bridges. "It took me maybe two or three years to finish all the MoCap sessions and everything [for the first Death Stranding]," the actor says. "It takes a lot of work. And then the game came out, and it just won all these awards, and it was a huge thing, so we just started part two of that." Nothing has been confirmed by Sony Interactive Entertainment or Kojima Productions when it comes to a sequel to Death Stranding. However, we do know that Hideo Kojima has been working on a new game since Death Stranding launched on PS4 in 2019. On top of the work on his next title, Kojima Productions has released Death Stranding Director's Cut for PS5 and PC, which packaged in some new content and saw some big improvements to the game's visuals and performance on PS5 last year. As for when we could see Death Stranding 2 announced it isn't clear, especially as rumours have suggested that the studio may be teaming up with Microsoft for a project in the future. However, Summer Games Fest is just around the corner so we could see the game announced during an event in just a few weeks. Or, if Sony is once again funding the game, it could show up whenever Sony hosts its next PS5 showcase, especially as Kojima likes to reveal his games very early in development. In the article with Leo Edit, Reedus also talks about the time he was first introduced to Kojima by Guillermo Del Toro in the following way: "Guillermo Del Toro, who gave me my first movie, called me up and said, "Hey, there's a guy named Hideo Kojima, he's gonna call you, just say yes." And I go, "What do you mean just say yes?" He goes, "Stop being an asshole, just say yes," Reedus says. Tracing their introduction back to that encounter to the current point where we are about to seemingly see a second team-up from the pair is exciting news and potentially gives us a glimpse at Sony's lineup after 2022 and the God of War Ragnarok release date hits.
