FIFA 23 has crossplay for 1v1 modes but Pro Clubs will have to wait The Loadout The Loadout FIFA 23 has crossplay for 1v1 modes but Pro Clubs will have to wait FIFA 23 crossplay has been confirmed, but it's not straightforward, as it'll only work with certain platforms and in certain game modes at launch Jamie Hore Updated: Jul 20, 2022 12:02 ET FIFA 23 After years of separate platform users begging for it, FIFA 23 will be the first FIFA game to have crossplay, EA has revealed. However, it won't be as all encompassing as some players might want. Firstly, due to differences in gameplay, FIFA 23 crossplay will not be cross-generational. There will be two groups of platforms that can matchmake with each other: last-gen (PS4 and Xbox One) and current-gen (PS5, Xbox Series XS, PC, and Stadia). The second caveat is that crossplay will only be available for 1v1 modes at launch following the FIFA 23 release date. That means that while experiences like online friendlies matches in FIFA Ultimate Team will have crossplay enabled, the likes of Pro Clubs or co-op Division Rivals won't – not immediately, anyway. "We're already exploring expanding our cross-play capabilities in the future, so our players can play and connect with whoever, whenever, and wherever they want," says line producer Matt Lafreniere at a FIFA 23 showcase. There was no indication as to when more cross-play support was coming, and whether it would be at some point within the FIFA 23 cycle. As you may have guessed from the fact that PC is being included in the crossplay group alongside the PS5, Xbox Series XS, and Stadia , PC players will have all the bells and whistles that current-gen console owners have for this FIFA. As for the transfer market, we know now that it'll be combined across PlayStation, Xbox, and Stadia. PC and Switch will still have their own markets. If you're already brimming with excitement for the next instalment of EA's football sim, you'll probably want to brush up on when FIFA 23 early access is, and what the situation is regarding FIFA 23 preorders too.
