Arguably the biggest change for players to look out for involves Elden Ring's co-op system, which has just been made less restrictive in this update. According to the Elden Ring patch notes, you can now "send summoning signs to summoning pools in multiple areas, including distant areas", increasing your chances of getting summoned into another player's game and allowing you to keep freely roaming without having to stick next to a single summoning sign. FromSoftware will let you place summoning signs in any pool you like, with the only exception being Mohgwyn Palace. On top of this, you can now "invade a larger area" following the update. For those who don't enjoy partaking in multiplayer invasions, FromSoftware has also added a new way to complete White Mask Varre's questline. There is now a new NPC you can defeat which will complete the questline instead, but the patch notes don't name who this character is, so have fun hunting them down. Elsewhere, Elden Ring patch 1.06 dishes out balancing changes to several weapons, skills, and Ashes of War. There are also over 30 bug fixes to make your time in The Lands Between as smooth as possible. Elden Ring continues to be a Game of the Year frontrunner – especially with so many potential competitors getting delayed until 2023 – and these updates serve to further polish an already gleaming experience.
