Here’s what we know Kyle Wilson Updated: Jun 13, 2022 11:40 ET Starfield Starfield is Bethesda's next new action-RPG and the first new IP developed by the studio famous for game franchises like Fallout and The Elder Scrolls in over 20 years. Players are going to be whisked away from Tamriel and the irradiated landscape of North America to The Settled Systems on the edge of our Solar System. It sounds like a game that can't be missed – but, what if you own a PlayStation console? Is Starfield coming to PS5 and PS4 consoles when it launches in the first half of 2023? Well, that is the question, isn't it. Starfield is being developed by Bethesda, a studio which you might remember was semi-recently acquired by Microsoft through a deal where the Xbox company purchased ZeniMax Media – of which Bethesda is a subsidiary. Of course, there are a lot of caveats to this deal that we're not privy to, but it does mean that asking the question "is Starfield coming to PS5 and PS4 consoles" is an important one. Thankfully, we do have an answer to this question – despite the fact that the Starfield release date is a little ways away. So, keep reading and we'll fill you in on everything you need to know. Is Starfield coming to PS5 and PS4 consoles If you're looking for the short answer, we have it here – no, Starfield will not be coming to PS5 and PS4 consoles at launch. In fact, there's no information out there to suggest that it's a timed exclusive either – which sucks if you're playing on a PlayStation console. Bethesda is a Microsoft studio now, essentially, and Starfield is just one of several new releases from Bethesda that will be an Xbox console exclusive – and available on PC. We don't know how this rule will apply to any Fallout or Elder Scrolls games yet, franchises that have traditionally been on both consoles, but expect new franchises from the developer to be Xbox exclusive from now on. You should be able to play it via Game Pass, though – small victories, right? Well, there it is. We know it sucks, but that's just how things are now – Starfield isn't going to be on PlayStation consoles and we can't change that.
