Prince of Persia The Sands of Time Remake release date rumour and more The Loadout The Loadout Prince of Persia The Sands of Time Remake release date rumour and more The Prince of Persia The Sands of Time Remake release date will soon see Ubisoft's cult classic platforming game return to our screens Aaron Down Updated: Sep 9, 2022 14:00 ET Prince of Persia The Sands of Time Remake Back at Ubisoft Forward 2020, a remake of cult platforming classic 'Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time' was announced. However, the game has run into numerous roadblocks throughout its development so far, and its launch date has subsequently been delayed multiple times. With so much uncertainty surrounding it, Prince of Persia The Sands of Time Remake release date rumours have been spreading far and wide. Having originally released on sixth generation consoles all the way back in 2003, the tale of the unnamed Prince has since been enjoyed by millions the world over. The Sands of Time series would go on to produce two direct sequels: 2004's 'Prince of Persia: Warrior Within' and 2005's 'Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones'. Additionally, Ubisoft later released 'Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands' – which served as a narrative gap-filler between the first two games – in 2010. Now over 30 years old, the Prince of Persia franchise hasn't received a new instalment since 2018's 'Prince of Persia: Escape' – an endless, side-scrolling mobile runner game. Indeed, for fans the Prince of Persia The Sands of Time remake release date could not come soon enough. Prince of Persia The Sands of Time Remake release date rumours All we know so far is that the Prince of Persia The Sands of Time Remake release date will be sometime after Ubisoft's 2023 fiscal year ends on March 31, 2023. Ubisoft PR lead Antoine Leduc-Labelle told The Verge back in May that Ubisoft was "no longer targeting a FY23 release". However, that's not to say we won't be getting an update soon. The Nerd Stash reported in August 2022 that the PlayStation Trophy list for the remake had gone live on PSN Profiles, indicating that the game could be closer to completion than we currently think. With Ubisoft Forward 2022 just round the corner on September 10, we could well be in for an update. Having originally been given a January 21, 2021 launch date at 2020's Ubisoft Forward event, the remake was initially delayed to March 18, 2021, and then indefinitely when Ubisoft took to Twitter on February 5, 2021 to share the news.
