Season Update The nationally ranked no. 18 Continentals improved to 8-3 overall and 4-3 in the conference with their fifth straight win. Colby dipped to 5-6 overall and 1-6 in the NESCAC. How It Happened Hamilton wasted little time in taking the lead. Hannah Dillon ’24 sent a centering pass to Tracey Stafford ’23 from the right side and Stafford scored just 63 seconds into the first quarter. Lilly Truchon ’26 made it 2-0 with 8:35 left in the first. Stafford had the ball on the right side and tried to slip the centering pass in front of Truchon. Goalkeeper Emily Loeb deflected Stafford’s pass and the ball popped straight up into the air. The ball bounced and Truchon batted it into the back of the cage from close range. The Continentals tallied a back-breaker with one second remaining in the quarter. Dillon had the ball near the end line on the right side and connected with Stafford, who was near the right post. Stafford one-timed a sweeping shot that just barely beat the clock into the left side of the cage. The Mules fought back two minutes into the second quarter. Hig Sevigny drove to the cage from the right side and took a shot that was kicked away by Abby Griffin ’26. Casey Winslow pounced on the loose ball and smacked it into the cage. Colby nearly cut its deficit to one late in the third quarter. Following a penalty corner, Kaitlyn Smith took a shot from the left wing that was headed inside the right post, but Grace Cooper ’24 was on the goal line and knocked the ball away. The Mules were awarded two penalty corners and took two shots in the final 1:15 of the fourth quarter, but Griffin and the Hamilton defense put down the threat. Notes Stafford has five goals in the last five games and leads the Continentals with seven goals and 15 points. Truchon scored her fifth goal and has five points in the last three contests. Dillon has a team-high six assists this year and 10 in her Hamilton career. Cooper recorded the second defensive save of her career with the Continentals. Griffin made two saves and lowered her goals against average to 1.44 in 667 minutes. Loeb stopped five shots for Colby. Hamilton held a 15-5 shot advantage while the Mules doubled up the Continentals in penalty corners, 6-3. Hamilton has outscored his last five opponents 15-5. The Continentals have won five in a row for the first time since the end of the 2019 season.
