Prosecutors claimed that to be with Milliron, Rudolph shot his wife in a cabin during the trip. Lawrence Rudolph claimed that the death was accidental, caused by Bianca dropping her rifle and causing a bullet to accidentally fire. He said he was in the bathroom when he heard the gunshot. Zambian authorities concurred that the death was an accident. However, suspicions arose among American authorities due to suspicious behavior on Lawrence Rudolph's part. Fox reported that before his wife's funeral, he filed an insurance claim and went on a trip to Las Vegas with an unidentified woman. He then proceeded to move in with Lori Milliron later that month.
