The Commonwealth Games 2022 will be India's 18th appearance in the show-piece event. Athletes have been going through the rigors of qualifying for CWG 2022 by bringing out their best in qualifying tournaments. India has always been a force to reckon with in the Commonwealth Games and the upcoming Birmingham edition of the CWG will be no different. The biggest upset of the trials was when ace Indian boxer MC Mary Kom couldn't continue her first-round bout and had to withdraw from the trials due to a knee injury. Placed in Group B, India will play against Australia, Pakistan and Barbados in the league phase before moving on to the knock-outs. Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the 15-member squad during T20 cricket’s debut at the quadrennial event. The team will also see the return of Sneh Rana, Harleen Deol and wicketkeeper Taniya Bhatiya. However, Yastika Bhatia remains as the first-choice wicketkeeper. India will lock horns with Australia in the tournament opener on July 29. England, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka are in Group B. The top two teams from the respective pools will progress to the semi-finals. The Committee of Administrators (CoA) running the affairs of the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) has chosen an eight-member Indian team and two reserve players for the CWG 2022.
