He cited the broken relationship between Kevin Durant and head coach Steve Nash to drive home his point. On NBA Today, Perkins said: “If you (are) Steve Nash, how can you walk into the locker room knowing that the best player on your team doesn’t trust you? … You can’t even gather the locker room, you can’t even control the locker room.” “You have to have the word trust in a relationship and right now, you don’t have that in the Brooklyn Nets organization.” Perkins also pointed out that Brooklyn will not make progress next season if they fail to address their trust issues. “If you don’t have trust, it is not gonna happen. And the Brooklyn Nets do not have trust.” What s next for the Brooklyn Nets The Brooklyn Nets were in the news for all the wrong reasons last season. There was plenty of criticism leveled at Kyrie Irving and his decision not to get vaccinated. James Harden came and left in the blink of an eye, while Kevin Durant requested a trade shortly after the season came to an end. Durant openly voiced his displeasure with the Brooklyn Nets organization. He requested owner Joe Tsai to remove General Manager Sean Marks and Nash, or trade him away. With Tsai siding with his front office, many have questioned whether Durant will show up for training camp. The rift between Durant and the organization, particularly Nash, will have to be repaired if the Nets hope to make an impact in the coming season.
