This game was an opportunity for the Yankees to get back on track and re-establish themselves as the top team in the MLB. Instead, the slump continued and made the clutch victory appear to be a fluke. Josh Donaldson was a hero against the Rays, but was powerless to stop the Blue Jays in this matchup. With a final score of 9-2, there is plenty of blame to go around. Toronto Blue Jays could challenge the New York Yankees for the American League East crown TAlbert Abreu taking the mound in the seventh inning For a time, the Yankees winning the AL East was almost guaranteed. Now, after such a terrible stretch of losses, that lead is in doubt. The Blue Jays would need some help in catching the Yankees, but they are now only nine games behind. If the Yankees cannot find a way to win games consistently once again, they could stumble their way into the playoffs as a Wild Card team.
