The founder of Facebook admitted the matter during an episode of the Joe Rogan Experience. According to Zuckerberg, his company did so due to a request from the FBI to restrict election misinformation: "We took a different path than Twitter. Basically, the background here is that the FBI, I think, basically came to us... some folks on our team. [They said], 'Hey, just so you know, you should be on high alert, we thought there was a lot of Russian propaganda during the 2016 election. We have noticed that basically, there's about to be some kind of that's similar to that. So just be vigilant.'"
