They have a hidden fosse that is filled with loot but is protected by a TNT trap. These temples are not easy to find as they are uncommon. They are made of normal, cut, and chiseled sandstone. The top of the pyramid’s ceiling will always be above the ground, so fall damage is likely. The desert pyramid is made of sandstone, and blue and orange terracotta. In the center of the 21x21 pyramid is a checkerboard pattern of terracotta and sandstone with a block of blue terracotta at its center. The blue terracotta (via screenshot) Below is a secret room, the fosse, which has four chests alongside a TNT trap. This TNT trap is rigged by a stone pressure plate which is connected to a 3x3 grid of TNT. If a player or mob steps on the pressure plate, it sets off nine TNT blocks which will destroy the chests and the items. Since there is no light source inside the fosse, sometimes mobs will spawn and destroy the loot inside before the player can ever reach it. The secret room below the terracotta (via screenshot) Loot The chests from the desert pyramids contain loot from 2 loot pools which consist of the following items: Bone (70.8% chance)Rotten Flesh (70.8% chance)Gunpowder (59% chance)Sand (59% chance)String (59% chance)Spider eye (28.7% chance)Enchanted book (23.5% chance)Saddle (23.5% chance)Golden apple (23.5% chance)Gold ingot (18% chance)Iron ingot (18% chance)Emerald (18% chance)Iron horse armor (18% chance)Golden horse armor (12.3% chance)Diamond (6.3% chance)Diamond horse armor (6.3% chance)Enchanted golden apple (2.6% chance) The loot spawn rates are the same across both Java and Bedrock Editions. Conclusion Desert temples are good sources of some basic and useful items that are required early on in the game. This structure is easy to tackle once you figure out how to avoid setting off the TNT trap, as there are no mobs that spawn along with the generation of the structure.
