Inglewood-Area Residents Attend Health and Wellness Fair with Special Access Inside the New Stadium Hollywood Park recently welcomed thousands of residents from the surrounding community to visit and tour the new SoFi Stadium during the park's "Summer Bash," an outdoor, family-friendly event promoting health and wellness. Attendees were invited to grab a snack at a food truck, take a tour of the new stadium and enjoy live music. They also could take care of their health. As the official healthcare partner of SoFi Stadium, Cedars-Sinai staff and volunteers were on hand to administer vaccines, provide health screenings and help attendees make much-needed blood donations. "It was exciting to hear people cheering and clapping after they received their vaccine," said David Marshall, JD, DNP, RN, senior vice president, chief nursing executive and chair of the Department of Nursing at Cedars-Sinai, who gave shots to participants. "It's such a great feeling when I get to witness hope firsthand." As the demand for vaccines has dropped in recent months, Cedars-Sinai has been offering vaccinations at convenient locations in underserved areas. "Now that my boys will be vaccinated, we'll be able to finally take a vacation and travel," said Rommell Hill, who brought his children, Tayari,15, Noah,13, and Nathaniel,12. All the Hills received a vaccine at the event. It was a similar scene at the Cedars-Sinai mobile blood unit as well. "I give blood when I can, but it's been harder during these COVID times," said Lupe Garcia as she donated blood. "It's so much easier when the opportunity is brought to us, like today." Throughout the day, Cedars-Sinai administered 137 vaccines, collected more than 35 pints of blood and provided over 500 health and wellness screenings at the event. "Our community is not in only one ZIP code, we're everywhere," Marshall said. "We are honored to not only protect people from COVID-19 but also to help them stay healthy and out of the hospital."
