Los Angeles, 01 June 2022 11:01 AM America/Los_Angeles MEDIA ADVISORY A First Look at Cedars-Sinai Guerin Children s Reporters Are Invited to Tour New 26-Bed Facility That Will Fill a Critical Gap in Primary and Specialty Care for Young Patients in Los Angeles and Beyond WHAT   Cedars-Sinai is hosting a first-look tour of Guerin Children’s, a new 26-bed facility that will offer advanced pediatric care, leading-edge research, and physician education and training. The family-friendly space on the Cedars-Sinai campus will feature a game and movie room with interactive screens, children’s art by local artists, a peaceful outdoor garden, a lounge for families and large patient rooms with accommodations for adults to stay overnight with their children. It also will include negative pressure rooms for children with infectious diseases and a special epilepsy monitoring room. WHY Cedars-Sinai Guerin Children's, scheduled to open for patients in late-summer, will fill a critical gap in primary and specialty care for young patients in Los Angeles and beyond. The goal is to provide a seamless continuum of primary and specialty care for hospitalized patients and outpatients as they grow from newborns to adolescents to adults. Guerin Children's will offer patients highly specialized medical care, including a full complement of pediatric specialties, maternal-fetal medicine and pediatric surgery and transplants. It will leverage the expertise of Cedars-Sinai's nationally recognized programs in cardiology, cancer, gastroenterology, orthopaedics, obstetrics, pulmonology, rheumatology, metabolic disorders and the neurosciences. Guerin Children's has been made possible by a $100 million gift from the Shapell Guerin Family Foundation and its president, Vera Guerin, a longtime Cedars-Sinai supporter and immediate past chair of the Cedars-Sinai Health System Board of Directors. The contribution is the largest lifetime gift in Cedars-Sinai's 119-year history. "We intend to establish Guerin Children’s as an international destination for children and their families and as a leader in pediatric care and research in the United States," said Thomas M. Priselac, president and CEO of Cedars-Sinai. "The support and vision of Vera Guerin and the Shapell Guerin Family Foundation will have a lasting impact on the health of generations of children and families."
