Our chief residents graduate with over 1,100 cases. All recent graduates have chosen to pursue fellowship training. Most rotations are at the main campus in West Hollywood, although residents gain perspective by rotating at Children's Hospital in downtown Los Angeles and at St. Francis Medical Center, a county hospital in Lynwood. VIEW PROGRAM CATALOG (PDF) Core Curriculum Outpatient Experience All clinical rotations are accompanied by corresponding outpatient experiences, to involve residents in the preoperative and postoperative phases of patient care. All outpatient experiences are supervised by our teaching faculty. You will be exposed to a variety of practice models: academic faculty practice, solo and small group private practice, multispecialty group practice (with faculty in our Medical Delivery Network) and a county hospital practice. For those interested in global health, there are annual trips to Cambodia and Guatemala. Research Year The research year usually follows the second or third clinical year. Research can include basic science or translational research, clinical or outcomes-based research, or a combination of these. Residents are free to select an area of study and a research mentor, although we provide faculty guidance and financial support. We encourage residents to present their work at major regional and national scientific meetings, and, provide funding to support these presentations. Mentoring Every resident is assigned a faculty mentor for the duration of their residency. In addition, interns are assigned to a resident "family" (an internal peer mentorship program), which pairs interns with more senior residents. This provides an additional avenue to get questions answered, gain perspective and get tips on specialization. Ancillary Support Cedars-Sinai provides ample on-call facilities as well as all necessary ancillary services for patient care. There are around-the-clock intravenous, phlebotomy and blood gas teams, EKG services, radiology technicians, and patient transport services. Residents benefit from a housing stipend, an on-call food allowance, free parking, reimbursement for your USMLE Step 3, California license and DEA certification expenses, as well as a house staff assistance program.
