The training programs provide a combination of clinical experience, didactic teaching and hands-on skills in our Women’s Guild Simulation Center for Advanced Clinical Skills. Frequently Asked Questions How long is the program? 26 weeks How many weeks do I spend with a preceptor? 14 weeks during OR rotations 8 or more additional weeks of unit orientation How long are the didactic/skills sessions? 3.5 weeks during general orientation As needed during OR unit orientation What is the program makeup? PACU Training Program Cedars-Sinai's Perioperative Services specializes in a wide range of surgical cases ranging from transplant to outpatient surgery. The PACU Training Program prepares nurses to care for a wide range of complex surgical patients in our blended units. Frequently Asked Questions How long is the program? 16 weeks How many weeks do I spend with a preceptor? 16 weeks (4 weeks preoperative, 8 weeks in PACU of hire, 4 weeks rotating in other PACUs) How long are the didactic/skills sessions? 1-2 days during first 3 weeks What is the program makeup? The program consists of clinical rotations, simulations, lectures and skills sessions (using Lippincott and American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses (ASPAN) Competency and Standards of Practice modules). Emergency Department Nurse Internship The Ruth and Harry Roman Emergency Department at Cedars-Sinai provides emergency care to a diverse community of adult and pediatric patients. Cedars-Sinai is a Level I trauma center and an ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) and Stroke Receiving Center. Nurses receive training in emergency, triage and trauma care based off the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) Scope and Standards of Practice. We care for laboring patients in our newly redesigned laboring rooms or operating rooms, and high-risk perinatal patients in our Maternal-Fetal Care Unit. The course is a blend of online content through the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN), unit-based skills training, interactive didactic sessions and hands-on clinical training in five different practice areas.
