Price Comparison Organic vs Conventional Foods - Diet and Nutrition Center - Everyday Health MenuNewslettersSearch Diet & Nutrition Price Comparison Organic vs Conventional Foods A study says organic foods aren't much better for your health than conventional foods, but our (non-scientific) survey found they generally cost more. Are they worth it to you? By Erin HicksReviewed: September 5, 2012Fact-CheckedA recent study found that organic foods are nutritionally almost identical to their non-organic doppelgangers, and have only a slightly reduced risk of containing pesticides. On the dairy aisle, for example, organic milk turned out to have no higher vitamin content than the non-organic variety and no difference in protein or fat. According to the most recent data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, organic foods generally cost at least 25 percent more in Boston and San Francisco wholesale markets, and could even reach double the price. In light of the study findings, we found the prices of some popular grocery items from Albertsons and Safeway, and broke down the cost so you can see how eating organic can affect your wallet. As for if it's worth it, that part is up to you. Source: Safeway.comHere there is almost a dollar difference if you buy a bag of organic carrots versus the regular kind.
