Table Tennis, a sport that is not limited to any age and is one of the most addictive sports out of all the sports you can think of.
Do you think all the TT tables are the same and easy to decide? People who think this way generally regret making an expensive mistake which could cause a big hole in their pocket! Please don’t be that person. Choosing Table Tennis Tables can be quite a task as you need to know a handful of technicalities and parameters. However, don't you worry! We are here to make your life easy when it comes to choosing the right TT Table. Here are some basic and simple parameters that you need to keep in mind while checking out a TT table. So, let’s get started! ‍

1 Area

‍We need to keep in mind the dimensions of the table + added clearance as well so that we can play the sport freely and safely.
For small spaces > 7m², we generally recommend a mini TT Table (up to 1.5 m x 0.7 m). Check out our Mini TT Table

‍Small Size TT Table Dimensions For medium spaces > 10 m², we generally recommend a medium size TT table (2 m x 1 m). Check out our Medium Size TT Table

Medium Size TT Table Dimensions ‍ For any surface > 25m², you may go ahead with the full-size TT table (2.7 m x 1.5 m). Check out our Full Size TT Table

2 Top Thickness

‍Tabletop thickness is the deciding factor of how well the ball will bounce on the table. Generally, the thicker the tabletop, the greater the bounce. However, it also depends on the playing surface material used i.e, either wood or aluminum. If you are planning to have a mini TT table or a medium-size TT table, then a tabletop thickness of 10mm with a (wooden surface and metal legs) is good enough. If you looking for a full-size table, then a tabletop thickness should be at least 12 mm so that the ball bounces effectively. For a full-size TT table, when the ball is dropped 30 cm above the table, it should bounce back to a minimum of 21 cm. However, for competition players, you should go for tabletop thickness above 22cm. Check out our 22MM ITTF Approved TT Table

3 Wheels or No wheels

Are you planning to use the space you have dedicatedly for Table Tennis? If yes, having a foldable table without wheels does the job. And for the cherry on the top, they are almost 40% cheaper than a table with wheels. If there's a space that is used for multiple activities e.g. Yoga, Karate, Zumba, Table Tennis, etc. then it is always advisable to have a TT table with wheels and which can be completely folded once you are done burning calories on the table.

4 Type of Legs

Local brands generally sell TT tables having wooden legs. They're a cheaper option but always be careful because they tend to collapse after prolonged use. Hence it is always advisable to go always for iron/aluminum legs which are more robust than wooden ones.

5 Frame

This is the part below the tabletop. It is always advisable to choose the one which is either made up of iron or aluminum for an optimum bounce.

6 ITTF Local Federation Approval

‍The TT table must have at least the country federation approval (FFTT, TTFI, etc,) or the ITTF standard approval. This approval tag is very similar to the ISI mark on an electrical appliance or FSSAI mark on a food product. Hence, always check for it without fail before investing your hard-earned money on a TT table. Check out our ITTF Approved TT Table
We hope this article added will help you choosing the right TT table for you. We know you want to play TT! *wink* Have some questions of Table Tennis?
