Do you have questions about your Easybreath mask? The answer is probably here. Here are the most frequently asked questions concerning the Subea Easybreath mask.

These FAQ were collected through feedback from Easybreath users. Feel free to send us your comments or questions to add to these FAQ and share your experience.

What precautions should I take with my Easybreath

Only one thing to watch out for : SAND.As with your sunglasses, avoid letting your Easybreath come into contact with sand. Sand will scratch your mask window.Sand can also clog up the floater in the snorkel. Rinse the snorkel vigorously or use a key that you can slide through the rear vents of the snorkel to unblock the floater. Then rinse the snorkel to definitively remove the sand.To get the most out of your Easybreath, rinse with clean water after each week of use. Then store it in its net.

Why are there 2 mask sizes

The EASYBREATH now comes in 2 sizes that cover 90% of all faces for men, women and children over 10 years old of age :
‍Size S/M for adults with thin faces, women, and children over 10 years old.

Which size should you choose

The best idea is to try both sizes in your Decathlon store. Once the mask is tight on your face, it's the right size if there's no space between your chin and the mask's silicone skirt.

If you can't get to the store, or if you prefer to order your EASYBREATH over the internet (www.decathlon.fr), here's how to choose your size.
Close your mouth and measure the distance between the trough at the top of your nose and the bottom of your chin :
‍Size S/M for adults with thin faces, women, and children over 10 years old.Size M/L is the average size for an adult male. Upon receiving your Easybreath, put it on to check that there's no space between the bottom of the mask and your chin (see video above).

‍Why isn' t my Easybreath watertight

Water leakage can happen for several reasons. The most common is that you have the wrong size.

The Easybreath comes in 2 sizes : S/M for adults with thin faces, women and children over 10 years old, size M/L corresponding with the average size of an adult male.

Gentlemen, beware! Your beard may let in a considerable amount of water. It prevents a perfect seal between the mask's silicone skirt and your skin.

For people with long hair, make sure it doesn't come between your forehead and the mask.

The floater in the snorkel is blocked what should I do

To fully enjoy your Easybreath for a long time, don't put it in the sand. If the floater is stuck, sand probably slipped between it and the wall of the tube.

Use a key and pass it through the rear vents of the snorkel to unblock the floater. Then, rinse the snorkel to definitively remove the sand.

The snorkel on our Easybreath mask includes a floater, designed to prevent water from entering the snorkel when there are ripples on the surface or when the user leans his head forward to look deeper down.

The snorkel has a buoy that slides up the snorkel to seal the opening when submerged. In case of submersion, remember to blow out when you get to the surface so as to let the buoy descend .

‍Why is my breathing sometimes blocked

If the airflow is blocked, you've leaned your head too far forward or a wave has passed over your head. The Dry top system on the Easybreath has done its job, preventing water from entering. Your snorkel was totally submerged, so the floater went up to seal it.

In case of submersion, remember to blow out when you get to the surface so as to let the buoy desend.

How do I clip the snorkel on the Easybreath

If you can't clip the snorkel on the mask, it's because there's sand where the snorkel and the mask connect, near the joint or in your snorkel.

This connection is designed to ensure a perfect watertight seal between snorkel and mask.

‍Why is there a slight hum when I breathe

To avoid the fogging and stop water from getting in, the Easybreath has many valves. When you breathe, some valves open while others close.

That's why the sound of your breathing is slightly amplified. This is the same phenomenon as using a regulator in scuba diving.

Relax and breathe naturally through your nose to fully enjoy the wonders of the seabed.

‍Why does water enter when I freedive

We've developed the Dry top concept above all to prevent water from entering through the snorkel when there are ripples on the surface or when the user leans his ou her head too far forward. Under these same conditions, with a traditional snorkel, the user might swallow the water entering the snorkel - that's what we want to avoid.

This Dry top system only works when the snorkel and floater are vertical.

Why can' t I freedive with the Easybreath

The Easybreath has been designed for surface swimming with fins (snorkeling), which is 90% of the sport.

Freediving is not possible for various reasons :
‍The Dry top system does not work horizontally, when doing a “duck dive”The volume of air contained in the Easybreath is much greater than in a traditional mask. Below 1 m, the pressure of the mask on your face becomes very uncomfortable. When freediving, it's iessential to equalize, i.e. hold your nose and blow gently as if you were blowing your nose, to clear the pressure in your ears and not pierce your eardrums. With the Easybreath, equalizing is impossible, because you can't reach your nose.

Is a beard a nuisance

Yes. What makes the mask watertight is the contact between your skin and the silicon skirt.

‍Why is my mask fogging up

The exclusive anti-fog system using respiratory ventilation works best in water ≥ 18 °C.

It's important to rinse your Easybreath with clear water after every use. Indeed, with salt water and sun, your window gets dirty and eventually fogs up your mask.

‍What' s the purpose of the valve located behind the white hood at the bottom of the mask

This valve is there to drain any water without having to remove the mask.

If you have a little water in the mask, raise your head and water will automatically escape through this valve.

‍Why does the strap no longer stay tight

If the strap no longer stays tight, it's because it hasn't been run through the small elastic band that lies along the strap.

Why is the mask' s volume so big

The first reason is that a large mask covering the whole face is the only way of guaranteeing te promise of the Easybreath, namely "180º vision and breathing as naturally under water just as you would on land".

The second reason is that Easybreath meets many standards, including the snorkel and respiratory effort standards. The dimensions of the snorkel and white frame meet this regulation (standard EN 1972).

‍Why isn' t the snorkel of the Easybreath any longer

The Easybreath snorkel sticks further out of the water than a traditional snorkel. A traditional snorkel seems longer, as it starts from the mouth, not from the top of the head as on the Easybreath.

If you try breathing through a snorkel and then through a garden hose, you'll understand that the longer the tube, the harder it is to breathe.

To ensure a respiratory effort that complies with the applicable standards, we can't make a longer snorkel.

‍Why can´t the Easybreath mask be used for swimming training

Swimming takes a great deal more effort than snorkeling. Just like running requires much more effort than walking.

Swimming training will require significant oxygen input and your body will automatically switch to intensive breathing via the mouth. In this case, the respiratory effort using the Easybreath will be very uncomfortable.

‍How long does air reserve of the Easybreath mask last

Easybreath does not have an air reserve.

The air contained in the volume of the mask does not allow inhalation, since that's the role of the snorkel.

‍From what age can you start using the Easybreath mask

The Easybreath mask may be used from 10 years old. ‍ VIEW THE EASYBREATH MASKCHECK OUR SNORKELLING RANGE

How to replace the straps on the Easybreath

The Easybreath mask straps can easily wear out if they aren't looked after properly. Indeed, the sun, or even salt, can damage them. It's important to rinse your Easybreath after each use to reduce wear on the straps. What's more, the Easybreath straps have been designed to ensure the best possible seal, so don't scrimp on their maintenance!

If you want to change them, just get a pair of scissors, and this task will only take a few minutes. You'll be able to get new straps on the Decathlon store, available in several colours.

Be sure to cut the old strap for easier removal.
